I just got food from the Candied Yam for the first time. I got fried chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy. The chicken was delicious, not too heavily breaded and the seasoning was very good. I will definitely be back to try the perch next time! I also feel like the price is very fair for the amount of food included. I was too full to try the cornbread but will heat it up tomorrow.

The food here was excellent. Everything tasted well made and had lots of flavor. The portions are rather small for the price though. The desserts were very sweet but tasted good. Service was a 3/5 but gives small, friendly business vibes. Would recommend carry out over dine in personally but overall seemed clean and good food!

Been looking for a great southern/soul food type spot after moving here from the south/living there my whole life. This place was amazing! Greens perfectly balanced salty sweet. Yams soft, flavorful and sweet. Cornbread soft inside with crispy flake outside. Catfish seasoned well with crisp edges, flavor all over. A few bad reviews we see are INSANE and honestly disrespectfully wrong to the point they made us feel like we had to make a (legitimate) review cause — What!?

Love this place! The staff is super friendly and the food is always fresh and delicious. We are pescatarian so we love the fish it comes with 2 sides, this time I got Mac and cheese and yams. It also comes with sweet potato cornbread that is amazing. I also just discovered that they do dinner and shows with DeVos so you go there first and eat and then shuttle you to devos for the show and then they shuttle you back to your car at the restaurant afterwards .

Everything was hot and fresh. The restaurant is so cozy looking and the employee (I didn’t catch her name) was very friendly. Only issue is my eyes were bigger than my stomach lol. Will be back.

The atmosphere and service was great. But the food is not the best mainly the sides. No cheese flavor on the mac & cheese. Cabbage & collard greens were not seasoned very bland. Meatloaf was dry no flavor. The cornbread and yams were ok.

I hardly ever review restaurants because everyone has different tastes, BUT if you haven’t tried the Candied Yam, you’re missing out. The food is absolutely AMAZING. I tried the meatloaf and mashed potatoes and trust me when I say I’ll be back to try everything they have to offer. The customer service was great and the food is even better. I’m so happy I got transferred right up the road from them. I can get it anytime I want! I don’t know what you’re doing but keep doing it!
