Truly amazing. One of the best meals I’ve ever had in Los Angeles. Very fresh, interesting combinations as well as classics. The sweetfish was incredible and all the sushi was very tasty and subtle. Great service and delicious sake tasting.

One of the best Japanese Kaiseki experiences I’ve had in the US. Food was authentic and well prepared. They have an amazing sake list. If you are looking for high end, rare sake to pair with your meal this is perfect. Allows for people to choose different courses so there is flexibility. Will definitely come back again!

If you are looking for a traditional kaiseki meal, this is the place for you. The food was amazing. The menu seems to change by the season which means fresh ingredients. The presentation was impeccable. The staff was so attentive and very nice. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for traditional Japanese food beyond sushi.

Dining at Gozen is an incredible experience. First and foremost, the food is divine – I’ve tried all three omakase options and they’re all delicious and wonderfully varied, with amazing starters and a sushi course as part of all three. If you’ve got a big appetite, the biggest Yume course is fabulous, but if you’re looking for something lighter, the Hikari is great and still plenty of food. Next, ambiance and decor are curated to perfection, with Japanese antiques, a mural, a lovely outdoor seating area as well. They also have beautiful dishware and even the sake cups are hand-picked in Japan. The staff is incredibly attentive – the service is amazing. The sake list is hard to beat with lots of bottles from Japan that you can’t get elsewhere. All of my visits have been very special, I highly recommend!

7-course omakase for an intimate encounter with the 5 tastes: sweet persimmon jelly, fatty tuna with salty shoyu, a few drops of sour yuzu in the Fall mushrooms broth, tiny bitter pickles on the side, and a perfect sukiyaki for the umami finale. It’s delicate, delicious, divine, and all the other superlatives your inebriated soul will sing after your first bite. The interesting list of sake and the impeccable service add to the experience.
