So my husband and I were literally sitting at Cabarro’s looking at the menu and he asked me know if I rather go to the best Puerto Rican Sandwich Shop down the street. We got up and left. I wanted something authentic, something different. It was amazing! The Cuban was delicious and they have Quesitos! So nostalgic! A must try hidden little gem.

I don’t know if this place has a new owner but the sandwiches do not taste the same. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and it was seasoned with too much garlic. It didn’t have a lot of pork, I have to say it was about 2 tsp of pork scattered on the bread with 4 giant slices of ham and a whole sliced dill pickle. I didn’t like it, won’t be going there again.

My family and I visit PR constantly, and we miss the food. We stumbled across this restaurant today and fell in love. We feel like we no longer have to wait to go to Puerto Rico to have good PR food ☺️

I have been going to El Patriota for a while. They don’t always have all the items on the menu. On one of our visits, they didn’t have coffee or oatmeal. This last visit, I ordered 3 Tripletas, 1 cuban sandwich, 1 turkey and a ham, cheese, and egg sandwich. We also ordered 3 coffees and 2 oatmeal. I pay around $89. I was not satisfied with the turkey sandwich they only put 1 slice of turkey. The sandwich tastes like a lettuce and tomato sandwich. I asked the employee in charge if with the new administration, the turkey sandwich only has 1 slice of turkey. She told me that the turkey slice was wide, and I respectfully told her I disagreed. I think that they are fine turkey slice. I have come on other occasions and didn’t have any issue with the turkey sandwich. I was very disappointed with the turkey sandwich. I really don’t know if we would go again. The Tripleta sandwiches are very big and my husband is very satisfied with them.

The signature sandwich, El Patriota, is delicious. Well worth the $11 cost. The little snacks and treats additionally makes this must-have, not just for Puerto Ricans, but for any and all sandwich lovers!

Overall a great place to pick up a true Puerto Rican sandwich and highly recommended to anyone who craves one! This does not go without issues. Some of the recent downfalls are some menu items are not always available which is not a big deal with supply and demand but can be frustrating. The bigger issue I have is payment. They only take exact cash ,cash app or Zelle. I don’t carry cash let alone exact change, my banks don’t use Zelle and cash app is the worst for fraud and hacking. The last time I went I had to go across the street to the local CVS and take money out of the atm and hope they had enough change which I found odd for a Saturday. I hope they can figure out some better methods for payment as I feel this hinders their business.
