I had their food years ago and the collards looked and tasted as if they were cut and cooked at the business. They were so good, all the food was. These collards now are canned, the Mac n cheese is ok, and the chicken that didn’t have fried feathers looked good. Why would you serve chicken with feathers all over it? I couldn’t eat any of it after that. That chicken didn’t touch no water. Straight from the pack to the oil. Such a turn off. I’m more than sure that they wouldn’t eat it. I shouldn’t have to pluck my food.

Delicious food! Variety menu. Clean atmosphere. Friendly staff! Big plates of food! I ordered the boneless grilled pork chops with potato salad and greens, sooooo good!!! Highly recommended! Kids loved their food and ate every bite, too!

This place was so good. I ordered the Fried chicken breast, Mac and cheese with collards and the 8 piece chicken wings. Sooo good! I will definitely be back. The lady who took our order was very nice also even tho it was short staff she was so polite. Everything was fresh. I’ll definitely be back .

My wife and I did take out. We do it at least once a month when we come down to Charlotte. I had a rack of ribs which were delicious the collard greens and potato salad. I would have liked the potato salad to have more eggs. My wife enjoyed her chicken, collards, and Mac n Cheese.

I enjoyed my experience at Vell’s. First time there. My daughter picked out this place. We dined in. Masks are required upon entry, no exceptions. The restaurant itself was clean but could use a few upgrades. But the food was amazing. Made fresh to order. We wanted to try many things, so we got catfish nuggets, soul rolls, and fried chicken. Each entry comes with 2 sides, and a roll (depending on your order). The catfish nuggets came with hushpuppies, coleslaw, and tarter sauce. The sides we picked were Mac & Cheese, candied yams, and southern green beans. Everything was actually pretty darn good. The chicken was fried excellent with great flavor. Nuggets were good as well. I liked the soul rolls. They are stuffed with mac n cheese, collard greens, baked beens and bbq sauce. I think I would have preferred no bbq sauce but they were still good. My daughter loved them with the sauce. Hell, may try that eggroll idea myself at the next cookout or Thanksgiving. Only real complaint was that hushpuppies were overcooked and were so hard, I didn’t get to enjoy that part of my meal. Then they also serve old school drinks like sweet tea, lemonade, and red kool-aid. Me and babygirl got us some red kool-aid. It was so good and reminded me of growing up back in the day. I moved to the Charlotte area a couple months ago and all summer I’ll be checking out new places. This one was definitely a thumbs up oh and very reasonable prices. Our 3 meals was only $42.
