Nice new place. Very friendly, service with a smile. Limited menu. I got the pulled pork sandwich, which was quite good. I would have preferred it to be seasoned a bit more, but the meat was good and well portioned. I did not try to baked goods.

Found this great barbecue place while out on the bike the other day! Best barbecue I have had in a long time they make some awesome pulled pork. The pulled pork was just right and the sauce is some of the best I have tasted since firehouse barbecue in Alabama. I highly recommend this place if you want good barbecue it’s worth the trip!

Overall the baked good were decent. I didn’t get to try the brisket because they were out but the pulled pork was overly salty, the collared greens were between soft and hard and had no seasoning besides salt, the potato salad I’m 99% sure was just Resers potato salad which was the part I was most excited about trying. With a name like homesteaders I just assumed it would be made there. Tha Mac & cheese was good and the cornbread was good.

My husband and I pass this place everytime we come into Sutherlin. Finally stopped and tried the pulled pork sandwhich. Let me tell you something- this was the most tender and juicy pulled pork ive ever had. It was seriously so good I wont get it on bread next time. The sandwhich itself, I feel like could use some slaw or pickles or fried onions, but dont mess with the pork. It was absolutly perfect. It said it came with a pickle but we didnt get one with either sandwhich. I cant even complain about it because the pork was out of this world. I’ll be back, but next time, I’ll get the pulled pork plate that includes the sides.

Tried this place today, I ordered a kids plate from your menu which is listed at $6, but I was charged $8, the brisket was just a few fatty, unseasoned chunks of meat, the baked beans with bacon, were terrible and not a single piece of bacon in them, I was also supposed to get organic apple juice, it’s far from organic, extremely small and I had to ask for it or it wasn’t going to be given to me. Very disappointed, not going back. Don’t waste your money.

There’s nothing i like better after an exhausting day as a professional male model than a big plate of barbecue, and homesteader’s is my favorite place to get it. They are exceptionally good at pulled pork. The mac ‘n’ cheese is extra cheesy, and the coleslaw is delicious! My new favorite spot!

I have had bbq, smoked, from Nashville, Memphis, Texas, Kansas city Kansas. among other places. There are so many ways to prepare this type of food. This place is a good start. It was good but not great as great is a goal which they seem to heading for. Friendly staff. The marketing needs a little help as well.

Girlfriend and I got the pulled pork sandwiches, macNcheese and cornbread. The entire meal was awful. Meat was dry and had almost no bbq sauce on it, the Mac and cheese was disgusting and the cornbread was too sweet. The food ended up giving us food poisoning. The worst part is the trailer that they own, right next to the business was leeking sewage onto the parking lots and made the entire area smell like sewage. Will never go back and will never recommend.

This place is overpriced and overrated because the food overall is nothing special. I asked the guy working there how business was when I first got there and he said it was slow. I understand now why it was slow. You might want to lower your prices. I bought a small apple pie dessert that again was nothing special and it was $3.95. I don’t believe they’ll stay in business for much longer because they’ll never get my business again.
