I’d heard so much about Fondita Lupita, but I’m glad that we finally made the 50min trip there!! We ordered a feast and we were truly satisfied with the food, the atmosphere, and the service. To get the negative out of the way, the margaritas (we ordered an original and a strawberry Basil) were pretty weak. The flavors were very good but not much alcohol for the price tag.

Fonda Lupita has fantastic food packed full of flavor. Music played throughout the restaurant creating enjoyable background music to enjoy my lunch to.

I went to Sanford to see my sister today. I had the best noodles and Taco I have ever had. If you are in Sanford, NC, swing by, you will not be disappointed.

This place was not what I expected it to be for all the hype I’ve been seeing. The young lady that took our order was not friendly at all. We ordered 2 Birria ramen and 1 order of quesa-birria tacos combo. The ramen was not it!!! They could’ve definitely used a better quality noodle. The soup was extremely spicy to the point we couldn’t enjoy it and also lacked real birria flavor!! The quesa-birria tacos were basically cheese in a tortilla because the beef was nonexistent. Definitely wasn’t worth the money specially for the amount of food and quality of it. Honestly I have eaten way better food from the Mexican food truck at the Bragg Blvd Flea Market and didn’t spend as much as I did here! We spent over $50 for 2 people and left very disappointed and dissatisfied. Leaving this review in hopes that they care about their business and better things.

Fonda Lupita is a beacon of light in a stormy sea of TexMex/Cantina fare. The food here is excellent and faithful to Mexican comfort and street food.

We drove an hour to eat here after seeing the restaurant on tiktok. We were definitely not disappointed the food was so good we were passing it to each other to try and talking about getting some to take hime for dinner before even finishing what was on our plate. Definitely coming back to eat!

I had high hopes coming here after hearing great things about it. I love the atmosphere, with music and a family-friendly albeit casual setup. The menu is simple and focused on authentic offerings, but it was limited for kids (only one option). The prices are reasonable and the menu is set up fairly a la carte (you can order one taco or multiple or decide to do a combo option). We had friendly service and recommendations from the bartender. Not my favorite churros but it’s a good place to try considering the limited options for eating out in Sanford.

I’ve been going to Fonda Lupita for years. They were amazing in their initial small location, and have just gotten better (didn’t know it was possible) since relocating to a larger space. The manager, Kevin, is so friendly, attentive, and makes phenomenal drinks. Great service from the rest of the staff as well. My favorite menu item is the burrito because you get such a variety of their delicious food in one (rice, beans, choice of meat) and a paired salsa based on the meat selected.

The food was great. I had the pozole with tamales. They were very good and flavorful. I was a little disappointed that it was self serve with moat dishes served in paper trays. The pozole was in a ceramic bowl, but the rest was served in cheap takeout trays.
