We ordered 3 different types of katsu. To be honest, when the waitress told us which one is which, we weren’t paying that much attention. Both pork loin and filet katsu were good, but both of us preferred the ones that softer. My daughter ordered the katsu don and they liked it. Edamame and addiction eggs were good also. We probably have to try their different location to experience variety of the menu offered.

Small parking lot in front of restaurant. Great katsu similar to what we had in Japan. There are a few varieties of deep fried dishes such as: oyster, menchikatsu (beef), tonkatsu (pork), Shrimp, crab croquette, cheese pork katsu (my favorite).

Located in a Costa Mesa shopping mall behind Zipps dry cleaners this Japanese restaurant specializes in Katsu aka fried pork cutlet but on a higher level. Upon entry you feel transported to a Japanese home. This evening I opted for the Katsu Curry set meal.

As soon as you get there before opening there’s already a line out the door. I recommend getting there 10-15 mins before opening to get in a timely manner. It’s quite a small shop but big enough to fit 20+ people. Overall if you want authentic Japanese donkatsu and curry, this place will do it for you. It reminds me of the style of midoh in Rowland Heights and it was filling enough. The curry tastes more savory and not as sweet. The Demi glacé was slightly but not by too much. Their sauce for the salad and donkatsu on the side is more of a soy thick tangy slightly sweet sauce. It also comes with shredded cabbage, pickles/marinated celery, miso soup, and fresh tofu topped with grated ginger. Would come back to try their other stuff as well.

Went here based on photos from another Google review and Kagura delivered! Super cute spot, great service, and food is delicious. Can’t wait to come back for more katsu!

We went to try this new restaurant and it was a big hit with all 10 in our group. The katsu was hot and fresh and the flavors in the shrimp, chicken and pork were all good. I had mine don style which is served with a special sauce, egg and onions on top of rice and I loved it. The portions were very generous! Perfect place for parties of 2 or 10 with bottles or pitchers of beer, easy parking and amazing food! We’ll be back!

I’ve been meaning to try this place since I’ve gone on my wild curry craze. I loved that they had chicken breast katsu and allowed me to add a side of curry. The katsu was incredibly crispy and was very enjoyable to eat.

I like this location better than Torrance one because inside is a lot brighter. Hot tea $3, no fukushin pickles with curry, layered pork katsu for katsu curry is a bit disappointing. No dressing with salad but I guess I supposed to use katsu sauce for it? Servers are very friendly!

Excellent place for different types of katsu. Clean place and food came out quickly. Meals came with shredded cabbage, small piece of tofu, miso soup and a side potato dish. Prices were reasonable and excellent service. Been here a few times and it’s our “go to” place for quick katsu dinner.
