An amazing experience all around. Great value, amazing food, and friendly, efficient service. It’s hard to tell which door to use to get in and there are no windows at street level, so it’s nice and dim inside. You know you are in a good bar when there are happy groups of drinkers at 11:30 a.m. on a Tuesday rather than just sad loners at the bar. We could have sat there all afternoon eating housemade pork rinds and drinking, but we had to run other errands. Sad face emoji. Best friend chicken since I left the South. I’m sad we didn’t find this place earlier in our Kern County sojourn. Hope to go back soon.

Random find while driving through Bakersfield on a road trip. At first we were super confused on where it was as the sign outside indicates it is a bar and as you walk in that’s all you see. But go in a bit deeper and there is indeed the cafe off to the side. It surprisingly leads to a big patio, where we sat. We were able to stay cool with their huge fans thankfully, as it was 105* when we got there.

We love the food. We go to Bakersfield once a year for a convention, and this is one of the places that we go to for sure. The staff (maybe the waiters because they are husband and wife) are so nice. It’s a lot of food so come hungry!

This place is perfect for large groups and its part of the Legacy of Classic Bakersfield CA. This is a Basque restaurant/ bar. What does that mean? Not sure other than one food order would feed 3 people. I got the steak , Basque style and there was no way I could finish it myself. (Yhe beef tongue was delicious) And I’m a big Boy!

My friend said that if we were coming to Bakersfield we needed to try Basque food, so she took us here for dinner. The food was absolutely delicious! We shared an order of garlic chicken and the butternut squash ravioli, and ended up ordering extra bread cuz it was so yummy. That being said, the highlight of the evening was our server, Chris. The food was good, but his banter was even better. I will be back and I’ll be bringing a larger tip budget.

Their well whisky is Ancient Age and they charge 7 dollars for a shot of it. Ancient Age isn’t even worth 7 dollars a pint. If you don’t like that they sell shots of dirty dishwater for 6 bucks a piece and it’s a much better deal. The food is good though
