As a traveling foodie, I like to try new places to me in my neighborhood. This place I highly do not recommend. The female behind the counter was rude. Nothing verbally was said, yet body language and lack of eye contact speaks louder than words. Next, let’s talk about the freshness and temperature of the food: the chicken was luke warm and extremely salty (no flavor), same for the pumpkin rice and the vegetables. The bammy was hard and dry from being under that light too long. The sad part about this is that it was EARLY lunchtime so the food should’ve been hot. Then, as my food was being placed in a bag, instead of trying to secure that the food doesn’t spill out, that detail was not observant to the female behind the counter. Lastly, as I was paying another customer came in and another female was about to attempt to serve that customer, yet the female that was serving me told the other server “don’t serve, I got them” and she was about to walk away without putting my plastic ware in the bag. And instead of just giving me the plastic ware, she questioned me as if I wasn’t observing her the whole time, so I can make this review. I took everything out the bag to prove there was no plastic ware. My suggestion is if you are NOT Jamaican or West Indian, I highly recommend you don’t go to this establishment.

Stopped in while in town from Florida. I only ordered a side of jerk chicken, dark meat. It did not look spicy but it actually had a slight spicy kick to it which made it really good. I was satisfied. The place was busy, took a few minutes to get noticed and assisted but the guy that rung me up turned out a nice guy. I’d recommend.

I use to love the chicken foot soup, every time I go now is all soup no chicken foot. The staff are very rude. Not going back anymore.

Only giving it one star because the food might taste good to somebody, but not to most. The fried fish is hard and chewy. The fried chicken is really spicy and not crispy at all. (Just wanted fried chicken.) Fried dumplings are bland. Veggies are partially out of a can (the peas, green beans, corn and carrots). This used to be Channer’s. They should have paid the cook from Channer’s to stay. I’m not even sure if this is Jamaican food or another island. Me and my peeps won’t be going back. I’m shocked at the good reviews.

I am a frequent customer, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is very pleasant to be in. They offer a lot of different services and are very kind and giving. It is a wonderful family run restaurant, they are very active in the community and is a very positive influence to the hartford community! Hands down the best Jamacian food.

There’s a older lady that works there she’s very friendly wish i k ew her name. The food is great but the customer service is a lil iffy, if you dont speak the language they look at you like you crazy. But they need to realize it’s the food industry a d they will get different people with different languages. I drive over a hr for this food. When my girls an I go to the hair shop we always make it our business to stop by an get food.

Will not order from here again the fry chicken was not fried correctly. I went home and bit into it and it tasted as though it was only fried for 5 minutes and I ended up throwing it up. Will never buy from here again. Golden crust is better with better deals if you are looking for another place.

Everything I’ve had so far has been good except the salt fish fritters which were way to big and way too oily. Also the ackee was way to mushy in the ackee and saltfish but everything else is bussin’. Gotta try them out
