We visited Kobu last night because I had a craving for Hibachi! This place did not disappoint! The food was excellent, and the cook told us it was his first day on the job. My two boys who can be picky eaters at a hibachi restaurant were gobbling down their food. The service was great. The servers/wait staff were on top of everything. The place is really cute and very large. We will definitely go back! Would recommend!

It is unfortunate that my recent experience with this place has declined from the last. The best part of my August 7, 2023 visit was our chef. He was very personable, and did his food preparation with skill and precision. So what went wrong? Firstly, the miso soup had a peculiar taste, almost as though the water was sitting for a while before it was used. The salad dressing lacked luster and thickness, as though it was watered down to preserve cost. What was mostly disheartening was an 18% “service charge” was added to the entire bill. When I called the host/manager over to question this, she had mentioned there was a sign in front that indicated the charge would be added to hibachi orders. I did not see this sign when I walked in, so it was not obviously apparent, but I felt it was nervy to provide an additional line on the bill for a tip, after the “service charge” was applied. Did they actually expect to double dip me on the tip? The irony was, I would have given the chef a 20% gratuity on my own, but I resented having that decision made for me. The amount I paid for this lack of quality was way too high. It’s a shame because this was once my favorite hibachi place. Using the pandemic as an excuse does not fly anymore. Sorry, but I won’t return.

Expected it to be pretty good, considering the reviews, but was extremely disappointed. The server was a bit rude and didn’t know anything about the menu. The ingredients were all extremely cheap and tasted frozen. Everything was very bland. The yakisoba noodles were clearly instant ramen, and the scallion pancake has maybe half a piece of green onion. It was kind of like Chinese people guessing what Japanese food tastes like. Don’t waste your money here.

Amazing views, and details in the construction. The atmosphere is worth the visit alone. We sampled some appetizers, then settled on a few sushi rolls. During the visit we had 3 servers, they were pleasant, and were concerned that all was well and we were happy. We were. In addition to sushi they have traditional favorites and cooked foods as well. There is a large interior bar, ready to make after dining a nice spot to do a drink and view the lake.

Sadly, the food has gone downhill. Has a great menu with a huge selection and a nice spot by the lake, but they’re just not paying attention anymore and taking shortcuts. Soy sauce fermented/expired, miso soup that was sour, oversalted noodle dishes, minimal proteins in protein-based dishes, and crab so small in my kid’s California Roll, you could barely find it. Joyless wait staff. This is fixable.

Would have been great. Right non the water sun going down perfect temp outside . All the makings for a perfect dinner experience. Yet a few flaws skewed my view. First when she brought our saki she spilled the first shot which we are human it happens but when i got my bill she took off 2 dollars from the bottle. If i order a shot of saki its 8 to 10 dollars for that kind. Ok so next i was enjoying my soup and the sunset. My soup directly under my chin about 1/2 done. The waitress takes it thumb in soup and then realized i wanted it and turns to ask if i want it. Not with ur thumb in it thanks. Then i ordered filet hibachi med cause thats the temp that seems the most consistent with tenderness in hibachi. It came out rare and very chewy. I had enough at this time and took 10 mins to get attention. Overall im vented but they could have handled it a bit better. Although i mayve would try it again. Seems like it was almost perfect for dinner.

Such an easy restaurant atmosphere. You can dress up or not. The food is great! Goza is one of the best, never taste rubbery. Hard working staff. I enjoy eating here.

Service and accommodations were terrific! We were suppose to sit by the hibachi grill but one in our party had a bad reaction to the smoke from the grill. We were a party of 10 and they quickly set up tables on the other side of the restaurant and settled us in. They went out of their way for us! The Rolls, Sushi and dinners were delicious!

I am here often, so already can tell you that I like it. Not always consistent with dishes, sometimes amazing, sometimes alright.
