I ordered the Mongolian Beef combination meal. Even though I ate in, I had to order from the front counter and the food was served in to-go packaging. I was left to get my own eating utensils and condiments. They have a VERY small selection of canned or bottled sodas. The first thing I noticed was that the gravy had been overthickened with corn starch/arrow root powder to the point of being gelatinous. In addition, the beef was of a consistency of having been way to tough to start and severely overboiled to tenderize it. Other than these issues, the depth and quality of flavor easily overcame the previously mentioned shortcomings. The amount of heat was perfect. Sadly though, no fortune cookies are included in the meal. If it hadn’t been for the great flavors, I would have rated my visit with three stars instead of four. It is also the reason that I would go back and try other menu items. Next time I will avoid the beef and order chicken.

The food was mostly good. The hot and sour soup did not taste like any hot and sour soup I have had before, so that was disappointing. The service was great! For the price and portion sizes, it was good. We will probably be back .

Very disappointed with the food. Ordered Seaseme Chicken. Chicken was tough, very thick sauce. Like it had been sitting around. The couple working were verbally arguing back and forth the whole time I was waiting for my order. I won’t be going back

Ive ordered from here many times and i was always happy about the food because the prices are lower and they are closer than any other chinese restaurants. But last Sunday i ordered from there and my food was awful!!! It was closer to closing time and maybe tgey just didnt give a blank so they could eat and get home asap

A great dinner option for consistently good, quick Chinese food on the Westside. The pickup order is always ready in 15 or less. And the family that owns Jia Yuan are nice. I never see anyone eating inside. The prices are cheap and the food is great!

Nice family run place. Food is always hot with fast & friendly service. Consistently above average food quality; spicy dishes are not hot (Hunan, etc.). The egg rolls are decent. Good location for Walker area. Recommended!

Mongolian beef, I ordered seemed to be more wet sauce & onions than meat.

A hidden gem on the Northwest side , Jia Yuan has delicious house lo mein that has just the right amount of sauce to make the noodles not dry, but not drenched either. Their chicken egg rolls are the most flavorful egg rolls you can get around here. They also have a tasty egg drop wonton soup. If you get any shrimp entrees, you get very large succulent shrimps. Family owned, Jia Yuan is a nice little take out restaurant that will leave your tummy satisfied every time without emptying your wallet.
