The first we visited, it was very good food. The bad was our waiter did clear empty dishes and they piled up. The last time which was Saturday before mother’s day. The food was all mixed up on plates, salad didn’t taste well. Brought out wrong steak ordered and my steak was cut up like someone was trying to see if cooked. I had a fillet minion , the same as last time and I had a lot of fat, which I don’t care for. That’s why I specifically asked for that cut. My other family members were very disappointed. For us to spend over $200, I would’ve expected a better meal. The waiter commented, “guess the kitchen has one table they mess up on, sorry it happened to be yours”. Wasn’t quite what one would expect at a nicer restaurant such as this one had. I’m not sure we will make the long drive there again to be disappointed.

The Village Steakhouse in Star City AR was amazing and definitely worth driving over an hour from Little Rock. I had the Herb Crusted Pork Tenderloin and my wife had the Hamburger Steak. Have you ever eaten anything that was such a pleasant surprise that you just couldn’t figure out how they seasoned it to make it so much better than what your expectations were? That was definitely our experience. I had the Grouper New Orleans last time. It was also wonderful. Make sure you ask for the house salad dressing. It’s Bacon Garlic Ranch. We loved it! And the Pecan Praline Cheesecake was also delightful. Who knows? Perhaps next time we’ll actually get a steak! 🙂

One of the best restaurants in Southeast Arkansas this is an upscale option. Their food is fantastic, and don’t let the strangeness of finding a bustling little village outside of town creep you out, because this is more than worth the drive. The steaks are great, not the best you have ever had, but definitely A+. Call ahead though, there can be a wait.
