The fried catfish doesn’t disappoint! The pulled pork sandwiches are very good, the cornbread is a good sweetness and isn’t super dry. The truffle fries are packed with flavor. They have lots of options for lemonade flavors which you can mix and match. (The lemonade is very sweet.) The employees were friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience.

Food is delicious, too bad your server who takes the orders is unfriendly and rolls her eyes frequently! Our greeting was “We’re closing early!” We pulled up around 4:20 on a Monday, the posted close time was 5pm. We saw the server get up from the table in the window & turned one of the Open signs off as we parked, we almost didn’t go in, but it said they were open until 5pm. We paid for 4 orders of dirty rice, 16 oz, only got 3. We paid for 4 orders of Southern fries and got one to go box of the fries, (from the last time we ordered these it was equivalent 2 orders which were separate). Be sure to check you get what you pay for and definitely only go several hours before the posted close time! Your food is wonderful, you need to work on the service aspect, I only gave a 10% tip, I’m a very generous tipper having worked food service in my younger years! I might give you a 3rd try, hoping the service has improved, like I said your food is delicious!!! Might need to hire help that is not family & appreciates your customers!

Yo this place is legit. I haven’t finished my meal yet and I’m pausing to write this. Pulled pork- nice bark, shredded by hand and delicious. Brisket- crispy bark, moist throughout, perfect. Hot link- snappy skin, very flavorful. Ribs- crispy outside, fall off the bone tender. Collard greens simmered to perfection in a serious umame broth that brings the heat. These folks aren’t joking around. Now excuse me, my hands are about to get sticky with this sweet-hot sauce they make in house.

I don’t write reviews, but this place was 100% worthy of one. Me and a buddy have been doing a BBQ crawl through Albuquerque and stopped in here today. Best brisket in town, best ribs in town, collards were great, fried okra great, THE FRIED CHICKEN IS OFF THE HOOK! Fried chicken has a 20 minute cook time and is worth the wait, I’ve never had such perfectly juicy chicken with the skin crisped up to perfection. My buddy is a executive chef at one of ABQ’s top restaurants and said this was some of the best food he’s had in this state. Support local and go get you some Hot Mess.

My brother and I were looking for a new place to try, ordered the Meat Sampler ($32.99) and Southern Fried Catfish with Fried Okra & Collard Greens ($18.99). Total price came out to $54.97, wish the taste was worth the price. The brisket was dry and was like chewing on jerky, the pulled pork was flavorless and looked like cat food. Overall the food was worth one star but the ribs, catfish, fried okra, and Collard Greens were moist and delicious. Will not be ordering from here again, although, I’m sure their food is good any other day but was disappointed.

Wish I could rate this better but didn’t even get to try the food because they were closed in the middle of the day. All the lights were on including the open signs. They did have a sign on the door that said closed from 3 to 4 but we came at 430. Should have at least turned all the lights off.

The restaurant was very clean. The staff was really nice. Our food came out hot and fresh. I loved the sweet potato pie. My only complaint is my piece of cornbread was small for $1.50.
