My sister’s and I ordered apps, drinks, entrees, as well as a few to go orders. Our server was very personable and engaging. Food and drinks came out promptly, no long wait. This is a location that does put a standard 20% gratuity on the bill so that helps to take the guesswork out of tipping.

I don’t really frequent bars so this was stepped out on faith for me and it absolutely didn’t disappoint. Security was present and did check id’s so that was cool. The music wasn’t overbearing like in a few other places I have been to.

Honestly I have not been to a Bar Louie in more than 10 years. The stars aligned this nice Sunday afternoon as I was in Downtown Royal Oak, so I said why not? My memories of Bar Louie were very positive so I ordered what I used to like. The glamorous Hollywood decor has not changed a bit. That is neither good or bad. I started with their phenomenal Bloody Mary I so fondly remembered. The good news is it’s still phenomenal. The Bad news? The accouterments you used to get on the extra long skewer in your bloody Mary Are gone. Now down to an extra large olive. I also ordered a grilled chicken sandwich. This was one of my favorites at bar Louie’s. The only grilled chicken on the menu now is a grilled chicken club sandwich on bread. I made a few adjustments and it came on a bun and was quite delicious. My servers Jenny and Michelle could not have been more friendly! Very accommodating and terrific service! All in all a very positive experience!

I arrived 45 minutes after my party, waited another 30 minutes to get my order taken, seems like it was only one server for the entire restaurant. Food wasn’t to my expectations, didn’t send it back because waiter was extremely busy. He was friendly, and up to par considering, my drink was not good nor enough considering the price of almost $20. Will not recommend.

Good beer menu. I was a pretty disappointed. I told the bartender I didn’t want a drink that was too sweet, and asked how the fruit margaritas were. She said they were on the sweeter side so I decided not to get the margarita. When I asked what about the lemonade, instead of saying it tastes like a cup of actual simple syrup, she said she loves it! Well, even my friends didn’t want to drink it – I tried to pass it off. I’d come back, but skip the cocktail menu and just do beer and apps. I left the $13 nasty made to order syrup drink + 20% included gratuity at the table. 🙁
