Caracheo’s Mexican Restaurant is a gem in San Antonio. I have been a loyal customer for many years, since I was a kid. The food is always delicious and fresh. The staff and the owner are super friendly, attentive and professional. They make you feel welcomed and like your enjoying a good meal with friends/family. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing. This is my go-to place for Mexican food and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves quality and flavor. This is a five-star restaurant in every way.

I was working down the street for the last few days and was looking for a place to eat lunch today. I googled lunch special and this place popup as the nearest place to eat. I honestly thought the food price was going to be a few more dollars than what I normally pay back in my area of the westside considering this area of town. The lunch was delicious. The cost of lunch met my price range If I find myself on this side of town again, I’ll definitely come back!

This is one of our favorite places! My daughter loves their bean and cheese tacos. And you have to try their brisket tacos, delicious. They also have great lemonade, not the powder junk they have at most places like Palapas. Plus the service is awesome, super friendly people. 10/10 recommend.

Definitely 5 stars. Fajita plate was served 5 minutes after ordering. The meat was juicy and soft. Crispy chips made me happy. Not expensive at all

Being coming here for years. I have never had a bad experience. Chips and salsa always good. The food is fabulous. Caracheo’s is a hidden treasure of real Mexican food. Flour and corn tortillas the best. Janie is best hostess and I am amazed at her remembering names of customers. Waitresses and waiter are the friendly and will come and check if you need anything else. The prices are extremely affordable. Their lunch specials can’t be beat on the price. I have held numerous evening meetings, parties at Caracheo’s the catering of food is top notch. I eat everyday at Caracheo’s, I just love their food, whether tacos or full meal you will not be disappointed.

TERRIBLE FOOD!!!!! I was not familiar with this part of town but wanted Mexican food when I found this restaurant. I first ordered the large Lenten Special that included the capirotada. When they brought out my plate, it looked like someone had thrown up on it. I’d never seen nopales so red and mushy! The nopales and shrimp patty were covered in a red sauce that tasted like they’d just dumped a bunch of Chile powder on top and grilled everything into an unrecognizable mess. Then, I requested that the food be sent back and ordered the large fish and shrimp plate. The shrimp smelly “fishy” and tasted past their prime. The fish “filet” looked like it had been sliced lengthwise in half…it was sooo thin! The flavor wasn’t any better. I took a bite of shrimp and a couple bites of fish but that plate was inedible as well. I asked for the manager and told her that the food was awful and that I didn’t think I should have to pay for it since I’d barely touched either plate. She told me that “she was not in business to be giving out samples!” As if! I told her she could charge me for one plate or both but that either way, I’d be leaving an honest review for everyone to see. The last thing I tried was the capirotada, I almost cried it was so bad! As I walked out, I saw a pizza parlor at the end of the same strip mall. I probably should have gone there.
