The overall low ratings are totally reflective of the experience you’ll have going to the Sonics in Maui. I ordered outside using their walk up service. When I hit the button to order, the person on the speaker said they’d be with me in a moment. I waited for 15 minutes until someone else walked up to the other speaker next to mine, and they wanted to get their order, but asked to move to my speaker. They then asked them if someone was already at that order booth. Anyway long story short, they forgot about me, and it wasn’t until I hit the order button again that they asked for my name and order. They did seem to feel bad about it, and as soon as I ordered, my food came out within a minute. But I totally understand the poor experience everyone has been having here. To add, they didn’t accept my Amex card, and forgot to include my ketchup despite asking twice during the order. I think the employees are overwhelmed. I see other customers by me being frustrated with the long wait and missing orders (three separate customers so far as I’m sitting at the table outside.) I feel bad for the employees, I don’t think it’s their fault, I think it has to do more with being understaffed and disorganization from the top. There were a few other fast food establishments that opened recently, and they are doing far better at running the place. I will come back and try out Sonics again, but I hope next time, it will be run better so I can adjust this rating up.

Went 3 times so far – weekday after work and got a stall and order within 15-20 minutes, Saturday at lunch, did a walk up and had to wait about 50 minutes and another weekday after work in the drive thru which took about 15 minutes.

Glad we didnt rely solely on the bad reviews—we had a great first experience at Kahului Sonic with John who took our order at the stall & Neilynn bringing our food out yessahh. We came in from Oahu on a evening flight, by da time we got our rental around 9:30 pm most places closed, so decided to chance ʻem even tho most of da reviews are negative.

Been trying a number of national fast food for the first time during this short visit on Maui. Ordered from outside and there was this order we didn’t start. Tried to explain to this gal that’s not our order. She came outside to understand what we were saying. That got cleared up. Thru the speaker microphone we couldn’t understand her and she kept messing up the order. Would help if she would come out and deal directly with us. Was disappointed with the food. Teriyaki burger had no teriyaki sauce on it, fries were short thin pieces not larger than an inch. McDonald’s teriyaki burger is a much better offering when McDonald’s offers it.

Visiting Maui with the family and decided to check out Sonic for the first time. Overall we had a great experience. Given they just opened a few months ago, they delivered a good service. Some people had high expectations, they were quick to give them a bad review. Give them a few more months it will get better. As for the pricing, it’s aligns with places like McDonald’s and others. And keep in mind it’s a fast food. It was great. And big thanks to the General Manager Jesse for coming out and checking on us. Sonic is lucky to have Jesse and a great crew.

It was pretty cool to experience the park and order your food! Browse their menu on the big screen and when you are ready to order, just press the red button and they take your order just like in the drive thru! You also pay there, no cash options. The screen then let’s you know when they are done and they deliver your oder to your car. Anyways, the food was awesome! Loved the mozzarella sticks, tots, and pretzels. Double sonic burgers were bigger than expected! Worth it! The only thing they forgot was the straws for our shake and soft drinks! But push the red button and they’ll be right out with what you need! First time here and loved it!! Bye bye Jack in the Box! Hello Sonic!!

The management in this restaurant… (? I don’t even know if we can really call this a restaurant since it’s only drive through) is really bad. This was supposed to be a fast food yet we have to wait for so long. The car who come after us got the food before us… it seem like they’re really short of staff, I saw only two of them deliveries the food. This is my first time going to the sonic and yet.. we didn’t have a good experience with it I was confused when I ordered the jumbo chicken pop(?) And they kept asking me “what side?” I asked them back like what do you mean by what side? Or size? We just want a regular jumbo pop chicken, we don’t want the combo one and then she got quiet for 30 seconds and asked me again “what side” ???? I know my English is bad but I don’t think it’s that bad
