Cancro Special
Provolone, roast beef and pepperoni. In the summer of ’74, the Pepsi delivery man requested a curious combination of provolone, roast beef, and pepperoni. Peter Cancro’s brother, John, liked the sandwich so much, he gave it the family name and a menu spot of its own.

I have had the best experience with JM in Matawan. They have been amazing working with us for a luncheons we provide for our HS students. Everything is always fresh and the kids love the sandwiches. Everything is always ready for pickup on time and the staff is always so friendly and helpful. I cannot say enough great things about this location!!!

Staff does not listen! I literally just called and said can I get a large Philly cheesesteak with American cheese, onions, and Mayo no peppers. I also ordered a small chicken Philly with Mayo onions and ketchup only. The girl literally rung my chicken Philly up as a bacon chicken cheesesteak! We don’t eat any pork at all! I called back and she had the audacity to tell me I ordered a bacon cheesesteak and passed the manager the phone! Like girl if you’re new just say that! Mind you I repeated my order to her twice! And she repeated “got you” over and over ! But literally messed up the entire order! Also my large cheesesteak was not good at all! My cheese wasn’t melted they didn’t put my onions or anything on it ! $30 wasted on two subs! Ridiculous! Smh very much upsetting & they could careless that this was our dinner… 01/22/2022 night shift! Please do better!!

Jersey Mikes Subs is definitely a good place to eat. Are they the best subs in the world – probably not, but they are very good. I don’t think there is anything unique, except that they only do sandwiches and make good subs. Place is new and clean and friendly.

My experience with JM in Matawan has been nothing but positive. I had to place a big order for one of the local high school clubs and had to stay within a tight budget. Emily the manager, worked with me to figure out what would be the best deal and helped with keeping me within the budget. It was great seeing a manager work hard to help out and explain the many options I had. Kids loved the subs and break from the usual pizza lunch for their events. Definitely going back for more catering.

Stopped in a few days ago as a last minute dinner option while bouncing back and forth between kids sports. It costed me almost $45 dollars for 2 subs and a bag of chips. They skimped on the meat and barley put any condiments on. Needless to say we won’t ever be going back. Increasing prices is one thing increasing then cutting back on product is poor business. For that price those sandwiches should have looked liked something from Harold’s!
