We are so happy we chose to dine with Hwy 55 for the first time last night. We were greeted with an employee who opened the door for us and then the employees behind the counter welcomed us. While waiting for our order they gave us a sample of the ice cream of the day! It was delicious. We had the best hamburger , fries, fried pickles and onion rings that we have had in a very long time. Our drink cups were refilled quickly and we were offered a refill to go. The waitress was knowledgeable and so very sweet. The atmosphere is happy and takes you back to a simpler time in history. The prices are reasonable so that everyone can enjoy good food and service. As we left the same employee opened the door for us. We will come back hopefully once a month at least. Hopefully we will have a happy experience every time.

This place is very similar to Steak and Shake, but with better food. The burger was large and delicious. The frozen custard was fantastic. They allow lots of add ins, and the concrete is super thick.

This is the cutest place. The staff is friendly and attentive. They kept my husbands tea full and made sure we were happy with our order. We got there early and watched the place fill up quick for lunch. They play 50’s music and is decorated so cute. A must go if you come to Alabama

The food was good! We will definitely come back for more. My only concern was when we came in there was a pretty large crowd going right down the middle with a bunch of tables. There must have been 20+ people in the group and it seemed like the place was understaffed. The people in the booths that came afterwards including us – waited about 50 to 55 minutes to get our food. Staff seemed lost and were completely focused on the group and not the rest of us. I never once got a refill and ate my food with no drink, and I ordered a shake, but it fell on deaf ears I suppose as I never received it. I didn’t go chasing after it. I don’t blame the staff! A little extra training for these situations seemed evident. Other than that, no complaints! It must of just been on of those rare events.

Service and food were good. I had one waitress that was even nice enough to give me another Frozen Custard for free after i dropped mine because I was clumsy or something. The atmosphere reminds me of an old diner, which I’m pretty sure was their goal. Fun with friends or family, and even for a quick bite for a lunch break.

I was at the Grand River outlet mall which is about 10 mins from this place. I just googled burger looking for five guys or something more mainstream. This placed popped up and I was like you know what why not. I am highly grateful I took the risk. The moment you walk in you feel just transported back in time to a highly retro cafe. The ambience is amazing. I ordered a cheeseburger with chili cheese fries. The burger was superb well cooked highly flavorful. The cook was an awesome dude. My only complaint was with the chili cheese fries I wish I had more cheese because most of my bites were just chili and fry. Other than that the food was superb. The milkshakes they have are off the wall really thick and creamy. If you are nearby or just passing through I would highly recommend giving this place a check I assure you you won’t be disappointed.

Took my wife here. This place was AWESOME. Amanda, the new manager was on top of her game and took wonderful care of us! I got a shrimp po boy, the sandwich was huge and tasted great. My wife got fries and a concrete, she let me taste them and the concrete and fries were REALLY GOOD. If you are in town give this place a try as they are under new management!

The staff was really friendly and our food was great as well. They even brought us samples of ice cream. I lobe the old feel of the place. Kinda like johnny rockets, but not near as expensive nor high traffic area. Definitely recommend giving it a try and helping local businesses
