Umberto’s is a nice local pizzeria and restaurant in Wantagh. Its family friendly and they have a lot of options to choose from.

The Delivery experience has been downhill over the past several months. Wait is usually an 1.5 to 2 hours. Pizza arrives burnt and cold or missing items from order. Last night was no different. Received the pie burnt crust, cheese stuck to top of the box and no dressing for the salad. I sent a message on Facebook to which Alexis called offering to deliver the dressing and another pie. I declined. They have since blocked me from their site. I thought businesses would appreciate knowing why they are losing a customer, so they can learn and improve. I guess not Umbertos. So if you like a dry salad, pizza with a burnt crust and refer to scrape your cheese off the lid of the box then I highly recommend this place. I guess those little plastic tables that keep the lid off the pie are too expensive……

Every time I get together with my cousin we always go to Umberto’s, the food is amazing, never disappointing in any way, the service and atmosphere is always great. I actually can’t wait till the next time we all go back.

I’ve been going to this place for over 10 years and food and service was excellent. I recently moved out of NY but when I visit I always make my way to eat here. I will admit food is great but sadly service has declined. Not sure if they have new owners but I suggest giving the stuff a training how customers should be treated.

Came here a few days ago for dinner was craving Italian food so heck why not, wasn’t very busy for dinner around 7pm, overall food was good enjoyed my salad, soup, chicken picatta , and slice of pizza. To start of course the bread came out but what surprise me was garlic knots as well! Nothing outstanding but had a good time enjoyed the food well, only trouble was felt the chicken entrée took a little too long to come out was almost 30 mins between the salad and the entrée to come and me being a big man haha I was hungry! I cannot talk about the shrimp as I am allergic but my friend did finish it so I’m sure it was good. But overall enjoyed my time here and will definitely make a come back sometime . Also ordered some slices to go and the cashier threw in an extra one on the house thought that was very nice.

I go there (Wantagh) for the deep dish pizza; I.e., the Pazzo pizza. Full dining in the back with pizzaria in the front; full bar with tap beer. The counter service is very good, the place is pretty clean including restrooms. Can’t say much about the dining room service since we’ve only eaten in the dining room twice and it was years ago.

First of all a whole fight broke out which was understandably wasn’t the workers fault but still disrupted the atmosphere. Secondly, the pizza is excellent but there sauce tastes more like tomato soup than sauce and wasn’t that great. Also the service wasn’t that good either. All I drank was water and I had to wait about 10 minutes for them to finally come over so I could ask for more water instead of then coming over once in a while to refill it

The other day at 1600 hours my stomach started talking to me and said hey Mike can we get a slice at Umbertos to hold us over!? I said of course a slice & a ice too! But my stomach said no ice let’s not spoil our dinner! Umbertos on Wantagh Ave in the Cherry wood shopping center is one of the best pizza companies on long Island! They been slicing and dicing for many years and today I wanted scicilian which is probably their best slice but that is up for debate! The guy next to me with a strong Italian accent ordered 3 scicilian slices. I turned to him & said your scicilian huh! He said yea scicilian! I told him here’s a fact I don’t know if you know or not. Scicilian pizza was spawned in New York! He said come again and I said it’s a fact you could look it up hundreds of years ago in Sicily they made pizza but it wasn’t called scicilian it was called Sfincione which means sponge! And it didn’t have cheese on it either just sauce, breadcrumbs & sautéed onions. But when you fast-forward to the early 1900s when scicilians came over to New York well that altered the style of the pizza! Because most scicilians worked in bakeries they had so much access to cheap mozzarella that it changed scicilian pizza forever. Now topped with sauce and mozzarella that’s really New York scicilian pizza! Tell me am I lying?! He said wow you really know your pizza history! He said did you travel to Italy? I said no…google!!! FYI the Chicken Rollatini entree is awesome!

I ordered a grandma pie and a margherita pie. I usually go to the Bellmore shop but this particular day it wasn’t possible. The pizza was so salty that we had to go get something else to eat. Even if I returned it , a new pizza would have been the same.
