A delicious dinner. Opened in 1994 by the writer, producer, and creator of Miami Vice, the TV show, it has really turned into a neighborhood gem. Originally a dive bar it’s in a more industrial part of Santa Monica, but that just means that parking here is really easy compared to over on Ocean Boulevard. I was able to find a free space right out front. They kept the theme of an East Coast style speakeasy and currently there are only 11 tables inside. Tons of nautical and landscape paintings strewn all over the walls with dim lighting and a full bar, it’s the sort of place you will want to stay awhile. There was only 1 waiter working tonight, but he was working really hard and did a great job. Hopefully next time they have 2 working to expedite wait times.

When this place first opened, in 1994, it was a classy, old-school type of establishment, where you could have an excellent meal, well-made drinks … and it was quiet enough to have good conversation (one of the few in L.A.). Then, after a few short years, the owner decided to turn the place into a pick-up/party joint, with a cover charge for males and no charge for females, and loud live music. I’m sure that move increased his profits (alcohol, alcohol, alcohol), but it ruined the dining experience for many of the original customers, many of whom simply stopped going there. It’s a real shame, because the same brilliant French-trained chef is still in the kitchen, but fine dining and a club full of raucous 20-something party animals do not mix. Farewell, Buffalo Club. Lucious food. Lousy scene.

The service is excellent, the staff always remembers us, and the cuisine is fantastic! We were inside and it felt like an old movie because it was windy and cool outside. There are lovely lights everywhere outdoors! Things at the Buffalo Club can go wrong!

Food: Delicious. However, the entrée portions are not all equal. The Impossible Moussaka would more accurately have been listed as an appetizer compared to the other entrées. Try the squash blossoms. Ambience: flowering, vined courtyard lit by sunlight and string lights at sunset. Great place to take your parents, have a romantic date, or celebrate a special occasion. Service: Goldilocks. Not too much attention, not too little.

I love the food and surroundings! Extremely elegant, and excellent service. I recently celebrated my husband’s birthday. The steak and tartar are must-tries! Last night, I ordered the duck, but I decided to go with the steak.

Honest review of the bar, not restaurant: Went for the first time with a group of friends. Very rude bouncer. Girls were required to follow their Instagram account to get in. Guys were required to pay $23 cover. Expensive drinks. Certainly an older crowd, would guess avg. age was 35-40, mostly men. The main area had one of those large white tents, felt like I was at an evening tailgate with a laser light show. Strange experience. Stayed for 25 minutes and left, most likely will not return. 2.2/10 rating. If you’re looking to try a new bar, I’d personally look elsewhere.

I love this place! The staff is wonderful, they always remember us and the food is delicious! It was windy and cool, so we were inside and it felt like an old movie. Listening to wonderful Sinatra music, that turned to James Bond soundtracks. Just then, Beatles playing the rest of the night! Fantastic! Great Bar and when the weather is good, the outside is all twinkle lights and romantic! Can go wrong at the Buffalo Club!

Super fancy place with very comfortable old school environment. Always playing period good music and old frames decoration, at the bar you have a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, whiskey, prosecco and wines. The bartender Christian is the best, always making and serving the drinks with a big smile on his face. Wonderful waiters and manager service all the time ready for your requests and recommendations. The food was amazing experience that I’ll never forget but I forgot to take the pics because I was hungry and didn’t wait to eat.

The whole $20 for dudes and $0 for girls makes me feel like a bunch of douchy frat dudes own this place, but most the staff are nice. Only complaint is the music was ridiculously loud for no reason. Couldn’t hear someone yelling directly into my ear. Food drinks and everything else was good.
