Looks like nothing from the outside but inside is cozy and spick & span. Up to date tables & chairs give this tiny tavern a happy feel.

The FOOD here! We thought we’d be getting wings at a dive bar, but instead we recieved beautifully presented pasta with homemade sauces and sweet potato pancake with andouille-mushroom sauce, topped with pierogi.

Talk about a hidden gem. Wish this place wasn’t so hidden, the chef makes what you like just way better. I had to slow my eating just so I could enjoy what I was eating longer.

The food is always great at the Penguin. Thick sandwiches, great burgers, the fish and chips is always my go to fav. Sandy (owner) is always a delightful bartender and knows all the Waterford scoop. Highly recommended for that neighborhood feel bar/restaurant. Brian (owner) has so many eclectic dinner specials there is always a surprise. Cheers

The Angry Penguin looks and feels like a pub should. Warm and welcoming. Food is good, service friendly. I don’t drink beer, but those who do say the selection is amazing. I drink the draft hard cider. Try the bread pudding. It’s awesome. Sandy, the proprietress, is a delight.

I have to lose the habit of the nightly beer served up by a bartender. I stopped into the Angry Penguin of Waterford New York for a visit, mostly to use the loo. But the Belmont Stakes was about to run, and the big screen television set behind the bar had the race live. I ordered up an Oberon, a delicious wheat ale brewed by Bells in Kalamazoo. The pint arrived foamy, more than an inch of foam. The tender didn’t know to serve it up with a slice of orange either. An Oberon well served comes in a frosted pint glass, the beer chilled to the point just before freezing. This one arrived on the warmish side and the puckish charm of the Oberon was lost. I wondered as I asked for the check, “Did the house seriously expect six bucks or seven bucks for that”? Yep. Oberon usually comes in at Five. Six Dollars. That’s what the pub printed on the bill. I paid it. Tipped a buck. Wished the tender well. But really. To get a premium for a microbrew, you gotta serve it right. Clean your taps.

Happened to be in the area and tried it out for the name. Both me and my boyfriend got one of their specials which was a burger. One of the best burgers I’ve had in long time! Wish I could remember what it was called and all the ingredients!
