Sushi spot in downtown Berkeley. Ordered the miso soup and Philadelphia roll to go. Lots of indoor seating no outdoor seating. Quick and friendly service. Enjoyed the miso soup! The Ingredients were fresh tasting and good sized portions. There was more cream cheese than salmon in most of my roll which is my main complaint (see photo). Otherwise they did a decent job and I’ll probably be back to try another roll. Would recommend at least once!

I was hopeful based on the high ratings here, which set my expectations high. I was rather disappointed in the overall quality of the food, especially since their prices are higher than other Japanese restaurants I’ve been to recently. Their Dragon Roll is $6 more than it is at another restaurant we prefer in Albany, and the price of their nigiri sushi is higher too. The small gyoza weren’t very hot and didn’t have the best texture, the unagi sauce was a bit too sweet, the tamago looked like a piece of plastic, and the himachi on the nigiri sushi was sliced paper thin. Also the tea was tepid, which always annoys me, and there were a few overcooked grains of rice in the sushi, which is unacceptable. The standard miso soup normally served first was hot, but it came out after the appetizer and main course. Otherwise our server was pleasant and attentive. With so many better sushi restaurants in the East Bay to choose from, I would not return to this one. The menu is relatively small, so if you like a lot of different choices, this isn’t the place for you either.

I love sushi, and I’ve been to allot of restaurants throughout the bay, and I gotta say that Nikko Sushi is probably my favorite place now. The service is ridiculously on point. The staff all greet you as soon as you walk in, and they’re all so warm and friendly. The food is wonderful! We got the baked scallop roll, the raiders roll, the Lion King roll, and an appetizer of shrimp tempura. We also ordered some sake, because it was $1 an order, which consisted of about 4 little cups worth, and they also brought us miso soup. It was all so amazing!! I can’t wait to go back, I really recommend this place!

they got my order worng and gave me terikyaki chicken instead of udon chicken, which sucked. The udon was flavorless and wasn’t all that great anyway. Made me pay for the dish I didnt ask. Only thing I liked was the miso soup (forgot to take pictures)

In the 4 years I’ve lived here I’m not sure why it took me 2 years post grad to finally try this place out. I’m confused. THIS PLACE IS THE BEST SUSHI PLACE IN BERKELEY. I absolutely adore the Lion King roll and holy cow the chirashi and even the maki were just amazing. Honestly this place has singlehandedly convinced me to move back and die in the Bay. Thanks for the great time.

I started ordering from Nikko a while ago and their rolls were absolutely great, fresh fish and ingredients. More recently, their fish has started tasting weird, has a very metallic aftertaste and the overall taste of rolls isn’t pleasant. I don’t think my sense of taste changed because I just had a roll from another restaurant yesterday with the same fish types (salmon, tuna and hamachi) and I don’t get that metallic taste.

Great lil spot, authentic sushi and reasonably priced. Often sushi can be hit or miss with a roll or 2 being stellar and rest average. However this place had excellent choices of rolls. Hardly anything with mayonnaise, lots of all fish rolls with good thick pieces of tuna, albacore, etc. We will be back here again and again.

Reasonable sushi restaurant that serves everything from sashimi to udon. If located in the Midwest, this would be a great Japanese restaurant. Considering a student town, this place serves tasty Japanese dishes at good prices.
