Archie’s West Bay Diner is a hip little diner that has a great, positive environment, and makes you feel good as soon as you enter. The service was quick and thorough without feeling rushed. Our waitress talked with us for a bit to tell us the history of the diner and its current status. Our breakfast seemed to take no time at all as this place has a small gift shop located upstairs with a gracious amount of items on the upper and main level. Breakfast was AMAZING! I had the breakfast pasty and my mother ordered the french toast. The bread and the pasty crust both tasted homemade. After that first bite, you wanted to clean your plate. I highly recommend going, even if it was 30 minutes out of our way for breakfast. It was worth every bite!

There is a reason this place has such great reviews, it is really good.

An incredibly fun old-style diner with a lot of local Upper Peninsulan breakfast fare. The quality, speed, kindness and environment made this stop incredibly worth it, and we’ll undoubtedly be back again. If there’s room, try to sit in the front room to get the best setting.

This is an astalgic 1950’s diner and restaurant with a 2-story very cute gift shop. The owner was a long time employee who wanted to carry on the diner’s history and family traditions. Very friendly staff and informative about the area and upper peninsula. Food was great and bakery fresh homemade. We treated ourselves to the “huge” stores and chocolate chip cookies.

Loved this place! The food was fantastic, we had Omelettes and baked goods two out of 3 days we were in town. The women that run this place are so friendly and down to earth! You have daughters, Mom, Grandma and Aunt all making this place what it is. The gift shop is fun to browse. Make this a must on your Grand Marais visit.

Great little family run restaurant and gift shop, the front of which is a 40’s-50’s style steel trolly car. All day breakfast, lunch and bakery items. The gift shop opens up into the 2nd floor, which is packed wall to wall with books, plushies, syrups, stickers, art, and all manner of gifts and collectibles. Clean comfortable bathrooms. Parking in the rear leads to a short ramp. Say yes to ~gravy~.

We were truly impressed with the genuine friendliness of the owner and her family. They love what they do and it shows. The food was outstanding! The breakfast pasty and gravy were delicious and the omelets amazing! So glad we stopped!

Waited 40-50 minutes for a table of 5 to get our food even though the building was practically empty. We asked for a discount because we waited so long and all the staff that interacted with us changed quickly in their demeanor and started being rude. Finally got our food and just put the food down aggressively. Ordered a Belgian waffle and it was burnt with barely any powdered sugar ($10), breakfast sandwhich that looked like it came right out of a box from the store ($9), eggs and toast, literally 1 egg scrambled with 2 pieces of lightly buttered toast ($9). Food was mediocre for how much you pay and service is quick to change. Would not recommend going here. There’s a bar down the street that gets you your moneys worth
