Horrendous. I ordered boneless ribs, takeout. The meat was fatty beyond belief. It was tasteless and on most pieces 75% fat. I know the dish, I’ve eaten it for over 50 years. This was the worse thing I ever ate in my life. Disgusting. The restaurant use to be good. New owners. Don’t waste your time or money. Sorry but that’s the way I feel. Yes!!!! The right place. I know the place well. Use to go there w previous owners. And yes, you took my order. I walked in, ordered and left w food. Boneless ribs were horrendous

Walked in at 11:20 AM for lunch and saw the owners changing their babies diaper in the dining room. Walked out as fast as I could. What is wrong with people. They couldn’t change their baby in their car and hope this open your appetite. Good luck.

It’s difficult to find decent Chinese food nowadays especially if you don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for it. Shanghai offers the best of the best. Great food along with great prices. Quantity, quality and GREAT prices make Shanghai Gourmet the best Chinese restaurant in Fairfield county not to mention they are over-the-top when it comes to customer service.

The best Chinese food I have ever had! I’ve been going to this hidden gem since 2004 and wouldn’t go anywhere else. The veggies are just picked and chopped; the cooking style is authentic Szechwan and Hunan straight from their respective provinces in China So amazing!!! Unfortunately their dine-in is shut down from Covid still, I miss that, but safety first.

Our go-to Chinese restaurant for many years. Unfortunately, the quality has slipped badly. Cold fried dumplings. The Thai curry dish we ordered had large chunks of barely cooked green pepper, radish and red onion and little curry sauce. Another dish had eggplant stewed to a pulp.

A change of ownership has ruined Shanghai Gourmet. Our family has ordered takeout from this restaurant for almost 20 years. Food was always top-level takeout fare. However, tonight’s food order was truly awful. The sesame chicken entree was a watery mess of soggy, sugar-water soaked chicken pieces. The dumplings (we ordered both pork and veggie) were clearly frozen supermarket-quality items. Flavorless and soggy. To add insult, the portion sizes were half the previous amounts of food. The new owners must quickly reverse course or we cannot order from here again.

Returning to CT from a Broadway show and my family decided they were hungry. We came upon this tiny gem! Food and service was excellent. One thing my grandma recommended was they need to invest in a teapot haha. Quiet and enjoyable place.

We randomly searched this area for Chinese food and had our new year dinner here. The restaurant is cozy and clean. The owner was very kind. All the dishes we ordered were delicious. We will definitely be back if we go to this area again.
