Came in for a little breakfast date with my spouse and child. The atmosphere is relaxed and cool. We saw many children and it felt like a family place. The staff was polite and answered any questions we had. The food and coffee came hot and fresh. We had the sausage egg and cheese on rye and wheat with cheddar. The portions we a bit bigger than I thought, but very good! The Cafe mocha was a bit on the dark chocolate side which is my favorite way to drink it and bring out the coffee notes. My spouse had the regular coffee and enjoyed his sipping experience. Our child was in their stroller. We had no problems parking her to eat and she loved the music playing. We can’t wait to come back again!

All kinds of delicious coffee smells greeted me at the door and I had high hopes. Breakfast sandwiches very nice. Regular coffees were good. But not all the staff know how to make a good, or even halfway decent, espresso. I asked for an extra shot in my latte. The person forgot, so I watched as they pulled the forgotten extra shot…it came out super fast and watery. (Possibly the other two shots were the same way, I just didn’t see those pulled.) Not good. My latte was basically a bitter cup of foam. Yes, foam. The milk was frothed cappuccino-style. Probably one of the least enjoyable lattes I’ve had in a very long time. I’m very much hoping this was an “off day”.

I’ve been on the hunt for a nice local coffee shop instead of Starbucks but this place is not it. Every time I come here the coffee is bitter and underwhelming.

I’ve been coming to Mad City for years and it’s time to find a new local coffee shop. The last 5 visits I’ve had have all been pretty bad in their own way. I gave so many reattempts because I truly loved this place. There seems to be a ton of staff turn over. Wait times for all orders are ridiculous. I went and ordered an ice mocha. It was prepared hot and with ice added. so all of the ice melted quickly and really ruined the taste of the drink. I hope that they get back on track in the future. Until then, I won’t be returning.

Yesterday I decided to try this place because I had a taste for breakfast sandwich and they were near by. The reviews were pretty good which prompted me to go here. Now I ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and something else. My breakfast sandwich was missing the bacon which I paid for which I noticed after getting home so I called to inform them. After calling to inform staff I was told that there’s nothing they can do because the price for bacon is the same for plain egg and cheese. The point is I’m the customer and I called this order over the phone which was supposed to be bacon egg she handled it very poorly and unprofessional and honestly this turned me away I won’t be coming back and this was my first time trying them out. A nice I’m sorry about messing up your order how can we fix this would have gone a long way.

I’ve lived in Columbia my whole life and had never tried Mad City Coffee until today. I was so excited to try a new (for me) coffee shop but was sorely disappointed. I ordered a vanilla latte that did not taste like a latte at all. It was watered down black coffee at best. Not worth the money.

They were SO helpful and friendly (I had never been there and wanted to find a good full-bodied and rich medium-dark roast whole-bean coffee to get so I’d needed some extra assistance)!

Awesome coffee! It was hard to make a choice with all the great options. They also have several really good loose leaf teas. The food options are good as well, some energy bars I hadnt seen before, bagels, sandwiches and salads, as well as muffins and pastries. The people are very knowledgeable and friendly, as well as efficient. The exterior is a bit underwhelming but inside it has a lot of character and a great atmosphere. I’m planning my next visit.
