The Hitching Post turned out to be everything it was billed up to be by the local hosts. The food was perfect in every way. The drinks did not disappoint either. Just know that California “Barbeque” is different than Texas Barbeque and the rest is up to your taste buds. The meats are grilled in oak wood not smoked like in Texas. The steak was delicious and so were the appetizers. Parking is surprisingly limited and so is the cell phone signal with no wi-fi available. Also, he place can be a bit crowded and noisy. Otherwise, super good food. Definitely a must visit place if you’re in the area.

The steak was fantastic!! If you order the same size steak in Vegas you seem to get about 2/3 of what the Hitching Post gives you. The meat was very tender and had really great smoky flavors. They bring you a shrimp cocktail (with itty bitty little baby shrimp), crackers, a salad, and a vegetable tray before the meal. The pre steak set up wasn’t my favorite but it seemed like other tables really enjoyed it. Then the steak came and took the place from a 1 star to a 4-4.5. It was definitely one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time.

This is my 2nd time going and everytime I fall more and more in love with the service and food. The scallops were amazing tender but not over cooked and tasted extremely fresh. Artichokes were perfectly cooked. I loved the bbq seasoning and with the combination of the dipping sauce. The steaks were perfectly cooked, even the rare was perfect. The meat again melted in our mouths with the perfect amount seasoning and it was pure heaven to us. The service was impeccable and on point. I will definitely be returning next year for my annual trip.

Stopped in for dinner Wednesday. Luckily, we had reservations. The service was great. I had the Ribeye and my customer had the swordfish. Both were excellent. We started with the artichoke and it is always very good as well. If you’re in the area, this is a must try.

Didn’t care for the food or the ambiance but the staff are lovely. You need a reservation. The food was just OK. I had the filet and baked potato, my husband had the ribeye with veggies. Ordered my steak medium, it was medium rare so sent it back. My husband ordered his medium well, it was well. Our drinks were Moscow mules- they were ok. Dessert was a malted chocolate icecream- nothing remarkable. This place is in the middle of nowhere. Not worth the drive. Again, the staff was great.

First time here. Had a blast. Sat at the bar for dinner. The bartenders were a lot of fun. And social. Had amazing dinner. I had the ribeye medium rare. My lady partner had the filet well done, but not to well. Great experience here. Lots of space indoors and outdoors. Very cozy outside for after dinner drinks… great time. Definitely will be back. People sitting at the bar were very social and friendly…

I’ve been a guest at the Hitching Post more than once, and they have never let me down. They have the most amazing food, friendly staff, and an awesome atmosphere. The fact that it’s located off the beaten path makes this place that much more special. I had the Rib Eye this last time I stopped by, it was delicious! Perfect medium steak! Definitely worth a try.

Came in with family for an early dinner, to beat the rush. I like to be seated by the grill towards the back. Table for 3 sat immediately. We ordered the scallops, mushrooms, large filet with an extra plate, and a margarita on the rocks. I enjoy the atmosphere and their food. The steak was cooked to medium and the scallops were seared a little less than I would have liked. Everything else was great! I absolutely love coming here for dinner. Keep up the great work guys! Waitress Diane V, did great! Thank you for your attentiveness and your attention to detail while we ordered. Will return.
