The only reason this dive-bar garnered three stars is due to the friendly waitress, great prices & the fact my mom & our neighbor liked their dinners. The “special” I had of “cajun cod” consisted of a small portion of undercooked fish, bland frozen mixed veggies & a microwaved baked potato that was as dry as the Sahara. The archaic decor is pretty cool & cozy. I’d be willing to give it another shot. I should have complained about my terrible meal, but for ten bucks I didn’t feel too ripped off.

Hadn’t been here since pre covid. It’s a neighborhood bar with some great food and has been around for years. It’s a simple menu with soup, salsa, burgers, steak, sandwiches, fish. I had the Philly steak with dries and dad had the Italian fish with fries and claw slaw. We both had a couple beers. Food was really good and so was the service.

So after a funeral and being in town from out of state we chose the shantie which in reality seems like a mistake. To start off took 30 minutes to get a drink, we ordered $100 in food and when bringing our 2 Saganakis the bartender lit her hair and shirt on fire and dropped our food. We patiently waited and checked on the bartender only for her to come back in to go sing karaoke and we still hadn’t gotten drinks. We finally got drinks and the long islands were so watered down it was like drinking sun tea. We got our food my husbands burger came with no bun, and a salad when he asked for tomatoes and lettuce for the burger, our steaks were both over cooked and the fried shrimp was undercooked, we spent a total of 2.5 hours here waiting in intervals of 10-30 minutes in between each drink that we had and were told we had to leave because the bartender was concerned all 6 of us were too “drunk” when the drinks consisted more of ice, juice and water than anything . Best advice please go elsewhere when wanting to spend $300. The bartender with glasses seemed more interested in mingling with her regulars than making drinks for paying customers.

Our waitress was so kind and the staff were very helpful as a team! And I can’t forget to cook because the food was very good. The portions were enough that I took some home. It’s a nice restaurant bar sit down atmosphere to enjoy time with your friends family and loved ones.
