I have been a customer of Pier 701 Restaurant from 2012. They got better and better every year, offering a selected variety of foods. Strategically located on Hudson River marina, with a magnificent view, this is also a strong reason to come back again and again.

Pier 701 probably has one of the most enviable locations in the area – it’s literally right on the Hudson, with incredible unobstructed views up and down the river with the Tappan Zee (no, I’m not calling it anything else) directly to the north. Gorgeous on any day, but I had the fortune of coming by last Saturday for a baby shower on a picture-perfect slightly nippy fall afternoon. The only downside was a wind that kept most of the festivities inside, though it was by no means torturous to go outside from time to time, especially if one had foresight to bring an ear warmer.

Like a previous review, I don’t usually go to places with under 4 stars but thought we’d give it a try. I made a reservation for seven people. We got there We wanted to change where we were sitting. It seemed to annoy the staff helping us. Waiter seemed annoyed and unattentive. Food in atmosphere we’re actually pretty good. Service is terrible. I’ve worked in the food industry and in customer service for over 15 years and this is bad. At least fake it with a smile. They were just attentive to the locals and people around the bar. Not good.

Great atmosphere, great food – dessert was amazing! Eat on the deck or right next to the water. Small menu but great choices. The only negative was that bread service was optional at $4 a pop…what? Pay for bread? I’ve NEVER heard of that, and I’ve eaten at some pretty memorable and fantastic places.

I was more than impressed by Pier 701. I’ve never been here before and was brought by a friend and as soon as we arrived it was VERY busy, but our amazing bartender Ashley was still able to provide us some of the best service I’ve ever had. She took the time to explain drinks to us, forgive us her feedback on what she thought was better, ( the mango lemonade or the blue Hawaiian, we went with the mango lemonade and it was amazing) and she was so attentive and sweet. I appreciate her and her amazing service so much more than I can put into words! THANK YOU ASHLEY!!
