The service is not great. I had a phone order to go and was on hold for over 20 minutes. I literally got to the restaurant and was still on the phone when I got there. This is how busy they were. (See photo). Bad first impression experience.

Impromptu stop in for some sushi and I was very impressed! Clean and fresh sushi with quality ingredients. Nice light lunch for two, we had shrimp tempura, spicy tuna roll, California roll (with real crab not imitation) and caterpillar roll. All equally good. Their spicy mayo is also very nice with a mild, clean flavor (not processed or mass produced stuff)

Hane Sushi is delicious. We went here last night for dinner and had AMAZING service and food. The sushi came out quickly and while we waited we had some tasty smooth unfiltered sake and appetizers. The best sushi roll of the night was easily the Ceviche Roll which I highly recommend you try. You can also order the stuffed tomato! I can’t wait to come back here with my wife and eat here again since we had a fantastic time.

Located just a block west of Balboa Park, Hane sushi is one of the tastiest and most creative sushi menus in San Diego. Haven’t even come close to tasting all the rolls. But just means I need to go back to try more:)

I’ve been here a few times before but this was my first time seating at the sushi counter. It was a completely different and more personal experience. I ordered the nigiri omakase and it was quite filling. The chef made every nigiri right in front of me, which I greatly appreciated. The quality of the fish was superb. This was elevated by his mixture of toppings. They were always simple toppings that complemented the fish but didn’t overpower it. I recommend this place for any sushi lover out there.

The best sushi in town! Impeccable service, very friendly staff and the freshest seafood in all of San Diego. Don’t skip the salmon tostada special, crab California roll and the double double roll. Also their chūtoro hand rolls! Great cucumber martini too. Sit at the sushi bar…very awesome guys!

I traveled around Japan and the world eating sushi in the best places, this place is not a traditional place. The Staff is friendly but they don’t know anything about authentic sushi when I mentioned some Japanese dishes they looked at me very confused, this is an American restaurant that tries to make sushi with very poor results. Rice is not sushi rice I tried a Yakimeshi and it was super bad made in flavor and consistency it was the worst, the ingredients are not really fresh and finally the presentation is super bad like in a fast food sushi place, their prices are super expensive for what they’re serving. It is a shame that this place will be promoted as a sushi place because in this place customers never will know what is the experience to eat authentic sushi. very disappointed with this place, the furniture, and place look very old without any maintenance. the only thing good about it was the Tempura.

Spectacular sushi! One of the best places to eat sushi in San Diego, and probably in California.

Loud and lively at lunch time. Reservations probably a good idea but there were seats. Ambiance is ok, but definitely loud. Sushi is pretty solid. Had some nigiri and a roll. Try the golden eye snapper, uni and the toro. Rolls are good but a bit on the large side circumference wise. Friendly chefs but a bit understaffed at the moment when it comes to waiters. Forgivable at lunch but might be a problem at dinner. One of our favorite sushi spots in town.
