June 2023 – Who doesn’t love a good hot dog? If you do, you must add Frankies to your list. Back in 2018 we visited the original outdoor food stand, but my partner and I somehow lost the photos of that meal as we were changing phones, providers, etc. and I was just starting to post reviews to GM. We do remember getting their famous hot dogs, a fried shrimp order and onion rings. All good.

I’ve been eating Frankie’s hot dogs and burgers since 1956. Obviously I’m a big fan. No kiosks or drive thru, just good fast food and personable service. A rare experience these days. Will hopefully enjoy a few more dogs before it’s my turn to catch a cloud. God bless!

Slowest service ever tonight! Staff was talking way too much instead of taking and fulfilling orders. I knew when the staff member asked me 3 times to repeat my items ordered that it would come out wrong. My incorrect item was replaced but it meant having to wait again. So long wait to order ,long wait to get food and a long wait to get my incorrect item remade. Frankie’s you can do better! Glad it wasn’t my 1st visit because I probably wouldn’t be going back.

A Waterbury classic. The food has maintained their quality and consistency for DECADES. The staff are always attentive. They have fountain birch beer soda, for those who can’t get enough of the bottled good stuff. There is no dining seating available, but it is the tastiest, eat in your car, dining.

Service was beyond slow. The lines are chaos. Food came out cold and bland with the exception of how much salt was added to everything. My turkey burger was very dry and only had cheese on it. Think you can spare a few slices of lettuce and tomato at least??? The serve your own condiments bottles were not sanitary. There wasn’t a napkin in sight. The gunshots that rang out while waiting for our order followed by Waterbury first responders was quite the sight. Parking lot is too small. No specials like at the other locations. Honestly I really don’t see what is so great about this place and will not be returning. It was a horrible experience all around.

I went to Frankie’s after about 10 years. I was pleasantly surprised. The prices are very reasonable. I just wanted a hot dog. I may own an Italian restaurant but hot dogs are my true passion. (Lol) the hot dog was absolutely perfect and my soda was good as well. I’ll be back before another 10 years passes for sure.

It has been at least 25 years since I visited Frankie’s. I can verify that as of 10.01.22 Frankie’s did not disappoint!! Still delicious! Added bonus: conveniently there is a Carvel Ice Cream shop right next door. ☺️
