I wholeheartedly recommend the kampachi with lobster. I appreciated the way the touch of sweetness in the butter sauce contrasted with the warmth of the ginger. The seaweed is a creative way to incorporate veggies into the dish.

We ate here right after the volcano stopped erupting. The view right before sunset was amazing. You can see directly into the caldera which is amazing. After it gets dark you mainly see your own reflection so I suggest going a little before sunset for the best views. We tried the bbq prawns which had an amazing sauce and were huge! The lamb was fall off the bone, I did not need the knife that is provided. The stuffed chicken was juicy and the au jus was great. The molten lava cake was the perfect end to a delicious savory meal.

This review is strictly for the pizza. I ordered the “Knickerbocker” which was a very tasty combo of italian sausage, pepperoni and riccotta. This was among the top 3 pizzas I’ve had on the Big Island. I was staying at the Volcano House and the menu was in the room. I will definitely be making this a regular stop for take out pizza when I’m in the neighborhood.

This place was amazing!! It had windows all along the whole restaurant so you could see the glowing crater! Truly a one of a kind experience! Got the lobster crab cakes were super delicious, I got the stuffed chicken was really great! my mom got the kempachi was okay, it’s hard when u catch em all the time but the sauce was really good, would have been nicer if it came with sumthing other then rice…over all was an amazing one of a kine time and would highly recommend!! Can’t wait to go back and would love to stay the night there!

The food was pretty trash when me and my girlfriend had dinner recently. For a restaurant in a beautiful national park I expected much tastier food. However, I understand that we are not food critics and maybe are palette has not evolved to taste such food. My issue with the restaurant was that after talking to the waitress about how we did not like our food and left one entire plate with out eating it, she completely disregarded our comment and didn’t care. We did not want money or for our plate to be taken off the bill but we did expect some professionalism from a waitress whose literal job is to provide good customer service. Anyway, food is trash and so is the customer service. On the bright side, drinks are actually pretty ok.

As I sit here with my family in which waited months to come and enjoy the Rim Restaurant. After manager moved us got no service. Sat with no refills on drinks. Changed server on us and literally sat here making multiple eye contact with server to get his attention and never bothered til we were done eating. 1st time and honestly not worth the time or money. Place is a joke. Same drink from 6:25 never filled 8pm. Login was our server. Manager a lady didn’t catch name.

Party of 10. No view at all at 5:30 dinner because of clouds. Service was good. My 14-oz ribeye was fairly fatty and I would have preferred it not served on top of the sides. Daughter loved ravioli. Local fish plates were very good. Nice kids menu. Limited parking – may need to park at NP Visitors center. Large & interesting gift shop in hotel.
