I’m not from Macomb at all, I’m from Beecher, Illinois on a college visit to Western Illinois. I wanted to see what Macomb had to offer in terms of local food to get a vibe of how my campus life would be on weekends or whatnot. I know nothing about this town but Chubby’s definitely gave me a wonderful first impression. The waitress (didn’t think to get her name but she had this really pretty moth tattoo) was so sweet and really attentive to me and my grandfather. They weren’t super busy when I went but definitely weren’t dead either. The food was really good, nice price, really huge portions in my opinon. I got the spicy chicken sandwich, not tossed in anything (it was pretty spicy and I loved that tator tots were an option instead of only fries) and my grandfather got the meatloaf with a side salad. We both really enjoyed the food. When we first were googling around I got rather worried as some of the reviews were super negative 1 stars while others were like radiating 5s, but I genuinely believe that the 1 star reviews were completely wrong and most likely written by impatient people who don’t understand the appeal of local restaurant/bar. This was definitely a dining experience that has made me feel better about going from a rural farmtown to another area similar to it. Hoping the tour goes great because I’d definitely comle back.

The tacos were good. They get very busy. We were able to sit immediately when getting there at 11. Around 12 there is a line and waiting to be seated. We were there an hour and a half. From being seated, ordering, and finishing eating.

Chubby’s is awesome staff, awesome food, awesome drinks. They make you feel important when you walk in the door. We were difficult customers but not on purpose and we added a party to our table. But our table was too small but the owner moved us to another section and insured us that it was really not a big deal. Brisket and fish tacos are phenomenal. Fries and tots are on point as well. Great drink selection. One of my favorite sit down places in town.

We all had an amazing meal here! Two guys ordered ribeyes one guy ordered a brisket and other guy ordered salmon and I ordered the half pound burger… We really left here impressed! Our server, Sean, was outstanding.

My husband and I were visiting Western Illinois University on June 28, as my husband attended WIU in the 80s. We were walking around the cute town square and happened upon Chubby’s. I was perusing the menu because I have the celiac antibody and can’t eat gluten. The owner walked up and I explained that I can’t eat gluten. He said they had a gluten free bun. I said sold! The hamburgers and homemade potato chips were amazing and very fresh tasting. Service was also amazing. We really enjoyed our meal and chatting with the owner.

My food came to my table cold, our waitress didn’t even refill our drinks at all. When I said something to our waitress about my food, she went back to tell the kitchen and all I could hear is a woman screaming at the staff that they need to stop messing up. I was absolutely appalled at how this woman treated the staff, I’m assuming she is a manager of some sort. Disgusting behavior. I will be telling everyone I know not to eat there.

Great weekday lunch, place was busy at noon on a Tuesday. I was greeted quickly shown to a table, menu, told the special of the day, drink order. I ordered the Dad’s Meatloaf Sandwich, texas toast, house chips. My lunch in a timely matter, the meatloaf was very tasty, chips were fresh and delicious. The service was tremendous from the guy that was working behind the bar and waiting tables. Good value, good food.

Oooooo the manager of the Google Review page try’s to use sassy comments and comebacks at all the negative reviews it gets lol. I bet they sit there hunched over thinking of retorts to negative reviews. “Hmm, Shannon from a month ago says the service could have been better, hmm, let me come up with a reason why they are wrong.” And how odd, there’s no sass or double guessing on any of the positive reviews, only the negative ones hmmmm… interesting!
