A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Generally, this is our favorite captain D’s. The service is always great, he staff always fantastic and the food always fresh and fast. My husband and I like to go in on Sundays around lunchtime or Friday nights and it’s always clean in the restaurant as well. We had a slight problem when we went in about an about a month ago and it seemed like they were out of everything. They were pretty much out of fish they only had six pieces left. We asked about chicken they were out of chicken too. They said it had been a busy evening. They pretty much had hush puppies and they were low on french fries as well so we left with two pieces of fish and some hush puppies. It had been a long week for my husband and I and it seemed like it had been a long week for the for the staff too, we get it things happen. fast forward to tonight I went ahead and called to make sure that they had enough fish. I was put on hold as soon as they answered but someone picked up within seconds. I proceeded explain that I had came in a few weeks ago or so and they were out of fish. I wanted to make sure they had enough fish to accommodate a 10 piece value pack, she said “we close at 10”, I said excuse me I was wondering if you had enough fish she said again with an attitude “we close at 10”, to which I said I’m confused maybe there’s a disconnect, I’m not asking when you close I’m asking if you have enough fish for a 10 piece, she promptly hung up on me. I called back the woman answered, she asked if I was the man that had just called. I in no way sound like a man. I said I’d like to speak to a manager. She said she was the manager. She then said we had just gotten disconnected and proceeded to tell me that they close at 10 again which I hadn’t asked, but at least answered my original question that they should have enough fish if I were to come in 20 to 30 minutes before closing. Unfortunately, after this whole encounter, I’m not going to the store anymore I will drive all the way to Fillmore or a further store. The Fillmore store has phenomenal customer service and they don’t play these kind of games on the phone.

The food was very fresh and hot. The gentleman that took our orders name was Jeffrey, he did an excellent job. He even checked on us in the dining room. Would definitely go back.

Gods Blown Whistle
This was my first time visiting and I must say I was impressed I walked in to a very well kept establishment and was immediately surprised to see GUMBO ! Which is something I rarely ever see outside of the south.Aside from that I was uninformed of the rest of the offerings on the menu but a employee named Aidan led me and my husband through the entire menu and was extremely pleasant overall.The food was fresh and was portioned well. My only gripe is that drinks don’t come with meals and are priced pretty high compared to other places.

I never go in. Just order in the drive thru. Last 10 times, I’ve ordered blackened white fish, baked potato, mac and cheese, side of hush puppies, large drink, and sometimes their funnel cake stick dessert. A couple of times, I’ve had a great suggestive seller asking if I’d like to try this or that, which is what led me to try the funnel cake sticks, I like them. In my opinion, the food portions are good for the price, I’ve not had a bad meal yet. Wait time from order to get your food us usually about 5 min. The times I’ve gone, it’s never been really busy, usually around 3.30 pm on a weekday or 1 pm on a weekend. Plenty of parking.

First time customer today 11:40am, Sage was super nice and pleasant! I had ordered the two-piece chicken and two-piece fish meal which surprisingly does not come with a drink and I had ordered it spicy but when I got home only the fish of spicy. The food looked fresh and tasted just fine, minus the spice missing on chicken. I called and talked to Sage to make sure that I got the right order and she informed me that only the fish comes spicy. they can’t spicy the chicken. I let her know that I wish she would have told me that in the drive-thru and she informed me that that’s a corporate decision to not put a sticker saying only half the order will be spicy even if you ask for all of it to be spicy! Thanks for the heads up, now I know.

Staff was polite and service was quick. Restaurant was clean as far as I could tell. Location is good right off of Powers and Barnes. That was the good… the food was bland, I had breaded fish, fries, and Mac-n-cheese. The mac-n-cheese was sadly the bright spot of the meal. The fish was so heavily breaded, I’m definitely not scared of a little breading, but it was way too much(see pics). I ended up with a plate FULL of breading after eating heavily breaded fish. Very strange but the fish was piled on top of random fried batter as well(see pics). I highly recommend changing the recipe and using about a quarter if not less of the batter. I was very disappointed after seeing this place open and wanting to go here for awhile.

The food is normally cooked fresh, so that is a plus, but that also means you’ll be waiting approx. 5-6 minutes. They have expanded their menu a bit and have brought back an all-time favorite of mine, which is lobster bisque.
