All I can say is “WOW!” This place is a hidden treasure. Those were the best chicken wings I have ever eaten. The seasoning was so delicious you wouldn’t have needed the sauce but that was tasty too.

When I walked into Uncle D’s, the “dive” aesthetic sent the message, “oh yeah. This is going to be legit BBQ.” And it did NOT disappoint! The food was amazing ya’ll – tender and flavorful ribs, thighs with crispy skin, tasty and generous sides, and I was so impressed with the Sweet Smoke sauce (never tasted anything quite like it before) that I got a bottle to take home. The wait staff was friendly and helped my party order the combo each of us was wanting. Strongly recommend and will return!

Went to Uncle D’s while in the area for work. Let me tell ya I hit the jackpot. The ribs were fantastic and the sauces were delicious. The owner and staff are so nice. I really enjoyed learning about the owner’s passion for BBQ and support for his uncle that taught him how to smoke all this goodness. Aunt Rosie, your sauce is amazing. Can’t say enough good things about Uncle D’s. If you’re a local, you’re blessed to have this place and these people. If you’re traveling through, you have to stop in and get you some.

Visited around 2pm on Friday. The atmosphere upon walking in was awesome. It reminded me of weekend barbecues with the family. Good music and the smell of a grill master at work. I got the ribs, collards and fries. It came with some homemade barbecue sauce on the side. When i looked at the ribs I could see that Uncle D knew what he was doing. The smoke ring was very apparent. And the flavor and tenderness was perfection. The meat came off the bone perfectly! I did not use the barbecue for the ribs at all. You could taste the seasonings and barbecue flavor embedded by the low and slow technique. And the collards were so good. They were seasoned and had a hint of vinegar flavor. They were like Glory greens (if you know you know) but with an Uncle D touch. Overall, I am glad I stopped in. I will be back for lunch and dinner and recommend anyone looking for authentic low and slow barbecue to give them a try. Plus, it’s always good to support and a veteran owned business.

I can’t say enough about Uncle D’s! Easily the best bbq I’ve had since I left Tuscaloosa 7 years ago. The owner was friendly and the food (I got the 301 sampler) was second to none. Aside from the bbq, the sauce is so good I would drink it by itself! Uncle D’s found loyal repeat customers with my family.

My first time trying them, and they did not disappoint. I ordered the small rib tips (as you can see it was nothing small about that portion) with a side of greens and cornbread. Not one dry piece of meat, good seasoning and good sauce. Will try again

We ordered takeout after seeing posts on Facebook for uncle D’s and everything on the pictures looks delicious and mouthwatering. I am not sure if my experience with them was because of the time of the day (dinner) or the day itself (Tuesday) but it seems like they missed the mark for me. Being a first time customer, I was excited to try their ribs platter. Unfortunately, the ribs were very dry and burnt and looks and tasted like it was cooked in an oven instead of a smoker. The sides were also very small which I wasn’t aware of. However, the gentleman at the counter was very nice and personable and the place was nice and clean. I am not giving up on them though so I will definitely give them another try at an earlier time (lunch) and different day (Saturday) to see if I will have a better experience.
