Every Sunday, my family and I go out to eat and happen to be in the area and choose the Mohegan Lake Diner. Unfortunately, the diner did not meet our expectations based on previous visits. In the past, everything was great on the 4-5/5 level, though after our last visit on Sunday the 23rd, we were met with some dissatisfaction with our service. We had an inconsistency with who our server was, there were no refills even offered, and in addition to that, part of the order was wrong, normally, I do not complain about a place, but what this place did was the forced upon tip on our receipt. They forced a 20%tip on my parents and me, which is outrageous for three people. On top of that, when we asked for a customer copy of the receipt, we were denied a copy, and all I have is a picture of their menu claiming that they can just add a tip to whomever they felt like doing it to and the absence of a notice on their entrance door. As for this establishment’s information and future reference, I did look into customer service laws and found that tipping and how much of a tip, if any, is completely up to the customer. Not saying that we wouldn’t have tipped, but we did not appreciate the forced tip. We will not be coming back until we hear that the issue has been resolved and that there is something done about the blonde old lady’s behavior towards my parents.

Excited to try this 4 star rated diner, we were immediately disappointed when walking past a dingy, dirty aquarium with some very sad looking fish in the entry. The fish tank was gurgling water like a runaway toilet. Inside, it looked cozy, but dim, as many of the neon lights were off. The waitress was pleasant, with a “Tough Diner Waitress” shtick. The shocker was the menu, with outrageous prices that were $10 above market for every item. Plain salads, $20. With chicken? $30. Basic pasta, no meat -$22. This might be fine in the middle of the desert, or if the food promised to be amazing, or even if there was a view of anything besides the parking lot or the busy road out front. Meanwhile, we were seat right next to the laughably load aquarium… We decided it was not worth the pricey gamble for what looked to be mediocre food at best, so we left without ordering anything and went up north to the excellent and reliable (and far less expensive) Red Line Diner, which is superior in every way…

worse place to ever eat at. the older ladies who work here are rude and miserable like they didn’t apply to be here. you can tell that there’s tension between workers which is fine but when it’s very noticeable to customers it’s unpleasant. not only that but we went around 9 and didn’t get our food until about 10. at the end me and my friends received a 87$ check. crazy bc we got 2 orders of just pancakes, a quesadilla, fries, and 4 drinks. we then proceeded to ask if she can split the check and she said yes. about 5 mins later she sits there and tells us they can’t spilt checks after 8pm? for what reason…who knows.. i had no problem paying for everyone but really? they pointed to a sign that was written in the smallest writing and if me and my friends couldn’t see it neither will anyone else. and also they charged me tip without asking. i planned on leaving a tip and as i was walking out i realized i didn’t so i looked at my receipt and it went up only 3$ but what if i wanted to leave more. so make sure u ask to leave your tip. my waitress was great i know none of this is her fault. overall for the service and the quality of food it’s not worth it.

I love everything about this diner! They sit you down quick, and are always attentive of their customers. The quality of food is great, you get what you pay for. The power skillet is my go to when I come here. It’s high in protein and come out fresh everytime. Out of all the times I’ve been here my food has NEVER been cold and I’ve NEVER had to wait for than 30 minutes for my food. Overall 10/10 would highly recommend

As long as you give them more money than they asked for, they will treat you as a customer, otherwise they will give you the worst food and mistreatment. As if the amount in the bill was not enough for them. And if i condone this, I will not condone the treatment of the provocative old woman who works in the accounts.

The place is good, but needs work. The waitress had very little patience for us. She wanted to rush us with ordering (the place was empty). We ordered first for my son. We did it right away because he was hungry. She immediately wanted to take our drink order, but I said I needed a minute. She almost bark at me.
