Tried this out today, it was decent. It’s pretty pricey for the type of food it is. The Braised Catfish is good , but the portion size is small.

Excellent place for Vietnamese cuisine. This.place.slaps. We tried this place as part of our annual trek out to San Diego Comic-Con. So many items to try whether you want your typical phở (of which theirs is not and is levels above what you’ll find at your average phở place). We mostly got what was currently listed under their limited availability specials and they were prepared to perfection. I had the beef carpaccio which was mind blowing while having all the expected Vietnamese flavors. You’ll want to come back and try other things off the menu. The place is nice with an open air feel given they can open the garage-style doors to expand their eating area. The staff are polite and professional. They are following current Covid guidelines. Recommended.

We ordered the Signature Pho S&B and the Pho Fries. The price point is too high. We were excited to get pho in San Diego, because we are from Utah. While the pho was good, it wasn’t great for $18-25 – twice the price where I’m from in Utah, and comparable quality. Some cuts of meat were higher quality, but on the whole, the price point didn’t make sense. It’s possible that this is a California thing, and if so, disregard. It was still good.

This place is awesome! Wish we lived in SD. It would be our go-to. We started with bone marrow for appetizers, amazing!

The oxtail pho was great with a good portion of meat! The Chinese donut was a little greasy but otherwise good.

FOOD: Yes, try the chicken wings, comes with 6, only 1 flavor, but the sweet sticky flavor is so good! Pretty good beer selection! Between my husband and I, we couldn’t finish “The Works” Bun Bowl, it was so huge! And we don’t frequent many vietnamese restaurants, but this seemed to be the only place that they bring you a dish you can dip you veggies/meats into, instead of putting the entire sauce into the bowl! It was just like in Saigon, Vietnam!

I finally tried Shank and Bone! I walked by a few times recently and knew it needed to be added to my must try list. Normally I’d probably order pho at a restaurant like this but decided to branch out a little and ordered one of the specials, the sugarcane shrimp. It was very tasty. We also shared an order of the Bahn xeo tacos which was a good choice as an appetizer. There are quite a few things I want to come back to try, the bone marrow crustinis sound amazing as well as the scallops on the half shell.

When we travel, we are always in search of Vietnamese cuisine. This place happen to hit the spot. We were really craving Banh xeo and they happen to have it in “taco size.” The nuoc mam sauce was created so perfectly. We also tried the pho cuon. The rice sheets were so soft and freshly prepared. The hoisin peanut sauce paired well surprisingly. I would have opted for the nuoc mam. We also ordered a cup of the beef pho broth. The flavors and spices were melded so well. It truly tasted authentic. We also tried the grilled pork Banh mi. The bread was nice, pickled vegetables, but I didn’t care so much for the flavor of the pork. It was such an overwhelming taste of lemongrass.
