This is the restaurant you won’t really find while looking on a map. But this is the restaurant you NEED to go to! We knew this was the place to be when we saw all the semi trucks parked out front stopping for some lunch. Buffet style, freshly made food that is some of the most authentic southern cooking I’ve had. And the little desserts are *chefs kiss* and nice and tiny so I don’t feel stuffed after eating a slice of cake. I loved this place!

When you are feeling like have some real southern cooking, Elmer’s Restaurant for all the local favorites. The food is delicious and everyone knows it; therefore, you may have to wait in line if you visit during the lunch or dinner time rush hours. All prepared in the traditional style, they have usual dishes like pork chops, chicken, fish, greens, beans, mac & cheese, and cornbread. They’re also dishing up peach cobbler! It’s a bit of a dump with cracked vinyl seats and sticky bathroom floors but OH MY. The cooks know how to produce good Southern cooking. I had fried pork chops, fried okra, green beans and sweet potatoes. Off the charts good food, and enough for two meals for me. Was with a large group, and everyone was happy with their food.

I came here on the recommendation of my aunt. I was a little apprehensive but once I got inside I found the atmosphere to be pleasant and the food was wonderful! We had a choice of meats vegetables all prepared that wonderful Southern fashion. And I must say it was absolutely delectable. If you ever find yourself in this part of Alabama Elmer’s is a must-visit!

You get put on hold immediately when you call in a to go order. I hung up after waiting almost 15 minutes. No one should wait that long. They need more employees. Happened twice to us.
