Brian McDermott had a passion for working in restaurants and The Original Pancake House was a perfect fit. After years of experience in the industry, he realized he wanted an Original Pancake House of his own. In 1986, Brian McDermott brought the breakfast franchise to Indianapolis, Indiana. Many of the items listed on our Kid’s Menu reference the historic train station. Since 1996, The Original Pancake House in Indianapolis has been closed, but Brian and his family have worked hard to keep their locations (Indianapolis, Fishers and Noblesville) running smoothly. His wife Charlene, daughter Colleen and son Andrew are devoted to keeping The Original Pancake House a part of Indianapolis’s history and your favorite breakfast restaurant!

My husband grew up in the area and when we got here this morning, this was the first place he wanted to go. It totally lived up to the hype! The decor was classy but not overwhelming. The waitresses were very helpful. All that was nice, but the food was fabulous! My husband had the apple pancake and it was huge. It tasted like apple pie for breakfast. I went for something a little more traditional and got the strawberry pancakes. There were several of them and the homemade strawberry syrup was very yummy. Would definitely recommend!

The food was okay but the service was slow. The decor has a lot to be desired. We got eggs and pancakes. The omelets are huge, way too much for any one person to eat. The amount of pancakes is also overwhelming. I would say the price is good and its the place for you if you want leftovers and don’t care about waiting.

Make sure that you run and don’t walk to this amazing breakfast spot in Fishers! The omelets are the star of the show. This time I got sausage, cheddar cheese, spinach and mushrooms. These things are so big that you should plan on taking half of it home for later or the next morning’s breakfast. If you can eat the whole thing, congrats to you! 🙂 They have the best bacon and the pancakes are always perfect! And don’t let that bacon price scare you because it’s worth it! The staff is always super friendly and the restaurant is clean and comfortable. I rarely even comment on things like iced tea, but they even bring their A- game with this as well.

Food and service here is always good! The food can sometimes take a while to come out. My wife ordered an omelet on our most recent visit and seemed to take even longer than usual to get it. I had gotten my order and nearly finished it before hers even came out. Other than that, we enjoyed everything.

I have been here once a few years ago. My husband took me for Mother’s day today. The Service was fast, and friendly. I love the menu items, IN particular the Gluten Free Pancakes! So Yummy!! It’s hard to find GF breakfast items, especially pancakes! I highly recommend this Restaurant!

We had a good time here. The servers were attentive, and even though the omelette we had wasn’t super great (it lacked flavor), the people running the business gave us a slight discount to ensure that we left happy and make up for it. The rest of the meal was great, the waffles and pancakes were both awesome and the sausage and bacon was cooked well. We would probably come back. Prices are reasonable for some of the meals since the portions are very large (especially the pancake stacks).
