Have ate at every local BBQ establishment in the Madison area and this is absolutely the most authentic BBQ you can find. The beef brisket, tips, and ribs are smoky and extra juicy. You can order with no sauce or have Papa put it on the side, thats how well seasoned and cooked to perfection everything is. The fried chicken and fries taste like your average supermarket’s frozen food aisle quality, so just order the BBQ and you will not be disappointed.

Delicious. We got there about 4p on a Friday and they were limited on options. But, what they had was delicious. Brisket meal w/ potato salad, chicken wings and pulled pork sandwich with baked beans. All was very tasty.

My partner and I moved to Madison from Sonoma County, CA where we definitely had been spoiled with good food. This BBQ was without a doubt the best, most flavorful food we’ve had since we moved here in August. We had the brisket and chopped pork sandwiches, great portions, perfect amount of sauce. Lovely family service. We’re already planning our next visit!

Best kept secret in Monona and surrounding areas! Papas BBQ is fire and without a doubt the BEST in this area! Better than even the 4.9 star bbq place in Sun Prairie! I had the brisket dinner and the meat was amazing. Perfect smokey taste with no lingering strange after taste. Brisket was buttery without being fatty or overly greasy. Meat portions are hearty but sides could be a little larger. His bbq sauce was tangy and juicy. Perfection!

I was riding my bike on Broadway and smelt the bbq and food cooking. I lived nearby but was never able to stop in after hearing tons good reviews. 11/10 burger cooked perfect , fries are crispy like they should be . They will be seeing me more often !

I thought the meal was delicious and memorable. It gets five stars because the meal delivered on high expectations, the amount of blackened brisket and brisket in general exceeded even those expectations, the people were really awesome, and the meat demanded to be eaten in a way rarely encountered (possibly leading to overeating in fact). The price was higher than I expected. Even so five stars. Thanks!

Papa’s BBQ is so good I couldn’t help but write a review after I ate there the other day. I will not be going to another BBQ place again if I’m in Madison. I ate it too fast to take a picture but I ate the brisket sandwich and it was the best BBQ I’ve ever had.
