If you are looking for halal deshi food in Washington DC area, it’s ok to try their food but not what I was expected. We ordered Chicken Biryani, Butter chicken, chicken Tikka Masala and Naan. Biryani was okay but other two chicken items test like similar. I don’t think they know how to cook butter chicken & chicken Tikka Masala. Food portions are not great either. There are other halal places in DC area better than them.

Ordered takeout. Solid price for great portion, fresh rice and delicious curry. I ordered the chicken vindaloo – tender chicken and incredibly tasty but very very spicy (as it should be) -beware.

I generally never write reviews, but the food from this place was so bad that I must. The butter chicken consisted of semi-cooked chicken pieces in tomato soup-gravy. The garlic naan seemed to be a good option when it arrived – but only 5 mins later, it turned rubbery. The aloo paratha was rubbery too, but worse than that, it was salt less. I literally ate parts of it with a salt shaker by my side. I’m not saying it’s the worst Indian meal I’ve had, but it’s definitely in the top 3. And I’m an Indian.

Good Indian. They don’t really understand what mild means, so not the best choice to eat with kids or sensitive palettes. Never stood on a long line and food is reasonably priced.

What can I say about Salt and Pepper Grill? Amazing food, wonderful, warm, gentle, inviting and kind customer service! The atmosphere inside is very homely, modest and humble! The large windows outlooking the busy streets add to the atmosphere! Now let’s get down to the “nitty, gritty”; the food! Me and my wife have been to Salt and Pepper twice now and the first time I ordered the Goat Biryani and the portions for the price were unbelievable or better yet unbeatable! This second time around, me and my wife ended up ordering the Butter Chicken each and let me tell you, the Butter Chicken was the perfect consistency of richness, and thickness! We also ordered each one extra Naan to dip in the Butter Chicken and it was the perfect floury cherry on top! The oil was still dripping off of the Flour Nann, it was warm and crispy! We will be back! This will be a staple place for me and my wife as we are lovers of Indian Cuisine.

Last night I enjoyed Salt and Pepper’s Chicken Karachi with garlic naan, and it was incredible!! The staff are all very familiar with Indian cuisine and it was some of the best I’ve tried. A hidden gem and will definitely be back!!

Great spot for takeout, I’ve admittedly never been for a sit down meal because we live in walking distance and usually get takeout!

Malai kofta seemed like it was missing acid from tomato and other flavor, very underwhelming Naan bread. Gulab jamun was good but likely pre-prepared.

Indian restaurants have commendable dishes and it fills well. This one tasted most expected. This was what I liked.

Spot for desi food. Their lamb karhai and chicken biryani tasted really good.
