At our West Plains, MO location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.
Fast-food chain serving fried fish & shrimp combo meals along with gumbo & funnel cakes. Based on 773 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.1 stars. Price $

Great fast food restaurant. Food is good and delivered hot. Employees are attentive and willing to assist. I visit here often when I have a craving for fish or shrimp.

2-piece Catfish dinner doesn’t come with a drink, I didn’t realize that until I looked at my receipt at my table. Hmm. A medium soda is 1/3 the price of the food. The meal was good and worth the price. The soda was the same as you would get at any fast food restaurant, but cost more. Not worth the price.

Left a late ballgame starving so we hit the town to find something to eat at 9pm in West Plains. Google said Captain D’s was open until 10, so we decided to go there. I swung through the drive thru and they politely took my order. When I got to the window it was obvious that they were doing the closing routine. I asked the lovely girl if they closed at 10. She politely stated that no, they closed at 9pm. It was 9:05 and I felt terrible. She was insistent that it was no big deal. Our food came and had all condiments and the food was fresh and delicious! Thank you so much for the nice experience! It was refreshing to see a young staff member being so delightful even after closing hours.

Absolutely love this place. Great food, nice atmosphere and the workers are very helpful. You gotta try the deluxe seafood sampler and the lobster rolls. Stuffed crab is my favorite from here.

After happily visiting WP Captain D’s for the last 33 years, unfortunately I think we won’t be coming back. The constant inconsistency with decent employees and service is really disheartening. The main woman at the front counter charged me wrong 3 times in a row, got our drinks wrong, and when I questioned the brand new rule of only allowing 1 free child’s meal with 1 adult entrée I was treated like I was nuts for even asking. Now because of this brand new rule, that wasn’t online or even spoken of until I noticed a sign that was covered, my family won’t be able to afford to continue coming back. Not only that, now the optional drink is no longer optional and I’m required to pay $1.69 for a drink that I don’t allow my kids to have. I miss the old Captain D’s. We were treated like family, served with kindness, and any mistakes (which used to be rare) were immediately corrected. Customer service and dedication has slipped and it really hurts my heart to have to say it.

Been going to Captain D’s for close to 30 years in multiple states. Always good service and the food is good too. We were there yesterday, and generally everything was OK, unfortunately there’s something different about the country style fish. The corn meal breading isn’t the same, plus the fish itself was off, and the macaroni and cheese was cold also. Last question, it’s been over 6 months since you had the clam strips, the “p__ demic” excuse is getting old. I do like the lobster rolls though, very good.

The extra crunches. They are gone now. Everyone that was there years ago knows what I mean. They did away with the crunches. Other than that, excellent food, great service and nice environment. The food would get 5 stars from me, but there’s the whole “ya did away with part of my food” thing.
