During our stay at the Inn at Pine Knolls, we dined twice for breakfast at their on-site restaurant. Despite clearly being short-staffed, the service we received on both occasions was truly exceptional. The waitresses we had for each meal were on it – super friendly and very efficient! As a shrimp and grits enthusiast, I tend to be pretty picky about how they are prepared. Not being a super-fancy place, I didn’t have high expectations for this particular restaurant. When they arrived, they appeared overly sauced, but wow, they were seasoned just right and so tasty – exceeding my expectations! My wife ordered “The Islander” and raved about the pancakes being some of the best she’d ever had. Great service and reasonable prices made our trip more enjoyable. We’re already looking forward to returning and experiencing both the hotel and the restaurant once more.

I’ve stayed multiple times at the hotel this restaurant is located. It is more often closed than open for sit down service. The food is above average to even excellent. Got a great mahi and the grilled shrimp is perfectly seasoned and tender. But here’s MY beef: when you force me to get a to go order because you aren’t seating diners how dare you force place a 20% gratuity and NOT TELL ME when you give me the bill with a tip line. I always add a tip. So BUYER BEWARE!

Just ordered shrimp dinner and a flounder dinner $60. For takeout. Worse ever. Flounder was about 6 bites. Coleslaw had no taste. 3 hush puppy. Don’t waste your money. Don’t know how they stay in there. This restaurant used to be top notch. Locals loved it as well as tourists. They have gone so far downhill. Limited hours. Nothing good to say. Former owners cared about customers and quality

If I could give 0 stars I would. Google said they opened at 8. They were running late and didn’t open til 8:30. Had only one server, who then gave the hostess an attitude about “taking her tips” when the hostess was helping out taking an order to get customers served. Like, what is more important, your tips or the fact that 5 tables just got seated and you’re one person?! We sat there for almost 30 mins with no even stopping at our table for a drink order. Then the hostess sat a new table and they got water before we did. Another table’s food was out before anyone ever got to our table. We left. Awful service. The only thing that was nice was the aesthetic of the room. Would probably be a great place to eat if they hired enough competent people.

Luckily, we stayed at the hotel. An item was missing from the order. The food selection was not too exciting. The meal was ok. Not great for the price.

Probably some of of the worst service I have ever received. Was seated promptly then everything went down hill from there. Waitress was apparently having a ruff day and was taking it out on our group. Drinks were rarely filled even with the added pitcher of drinks. Drink glasses are small and had too much ice. After my first glass was empty in 4 drinks. I got upgraded to a Styrofoam cup.. When we ordered food she was very impatient and argumentative. Menu says 2 sides not slaw and a side with the steak meal. But insisted I have the slaw , or pay extra for something different. Chef either can not tell medium from well or it sat under a lamp for to long. All and all my wife liked the crab cake and Mahi tacos was good as well. I was recommended this place from a friend something definitely has changed from what he told me about.

Good luck getting them to answer the phone and who knows when they’re open. Got placed on hold immediately after they answered the phone for about 5 minutes after already waiting forever for them to answer the phone. Then when I finally got ahold of someone she was terribly rude. Worst attitude ever. Then she very rudely asserted that she was placing me back on hold in the middle of the call. Whole time she has a terrible attitude like she was just annoyed with the world and god forbid you ask for breakfast without knowing they stop serving it at 11. She’ll make sure you know.

Dinner was takeout only, no wait staff which sucks. Ate on our balcony which was Ok but….. Food OK would be unhappy if we hadn’t had a $25 off coupon. Couldn’t be helped but seems like a classier place could do better with food service as no nearby restaurants.

I am a hotel staff member and I frequently find myself unable to pack my own lunch. I love that we have such great food just a few steps away! I’m a creature of habit so end up ordering the same chicken dinner as always, but I love that if I ever want to switch things up I can choose either serf or terf! Maybe next time I’ll do both
