Excellent Indian food! My wife and I enjoy Indian cuisine, and we were pleased to see Chef Mike’s Gourmet a short drive from us for takeout. Chef Mike was personable, and took great pride as the smell of the cooking dishes wafted through the building. The pride was well-deserved.

We stopped here and got dinner after I saw it on FB. The shrimp Mac was ok, for $ 17.50 I kind of expected a better quality pasta. The macaroni noodles were small and mushy. Cavatapi would be much better. The sauce had good flavor but was runny and curdled. The shrimp was delicious. The fish and chips was ok, again, for the price… It came with coleslaw and tarter which both seemed like someone was heavy handed with extra ingredients that aren’t needed. The cook was very nice, great service and he brought us our order, just not very impressed with the food.

I have never actually done a google review but I am still so dumb struck by the 5 “samosa” my son brought home, I need to vent. Let’s forget the 1/4 cup of oil they were laying in, that two were burnt to a crisp and they all glistened from being oil soaked, actually dripping oil when you picked them up, that they were so over spiced it looked like they were stuffed with ground beef, that they came with no dipping sauce, but how about the $31.54 for 5 somosa!!! In ann arbor I pay $.75 each for them at the Indian market that makes them fresh daily, or $4 for two at the restaurant. I just paid the price of an entire meal, for an appetizer that nobody could stomach. Second try with the “gourmet” I will not be back.

Today was the Brit Poutine, and it was delicious! Just the right amount of heat.

My wife is british, and I’ve spent a number of years living in the uk. It is very difficult to find actual British food in America. This is perhaps the first actual British restaurant / bakery / butcher that I have found in the US, and I’ve looked in the Los Angeles area, Chicago, and Washington dc. The fact that it is in brighton, my hometown, in a building that my family used to own, makes it all the more surprising. Putting aside the location, the food was very good.

I highly recommend the poutine. The fish and chips is always a favorite also. Owner is a super friendly guy and the food is worth the purchase!

It doesn’t matter what you order from this place, everything on the menu is incredible! The Cornish Pasty was absolutely life changing, and dare I say it, better than any pasty I’ve had in the UP!!!

I’ve had the Fish and Chips, Chicken Korma and Poutine. All have been excellent. The portions are very large as well.

Huge portions make the higher price tag well worth it. Food was great and Chef Mike was super nice. Everything tasted homemade. Welcome to Brighton, Chef Mike!
