The best meal of my year. Maybe one of thr BEST restaurants in Portland- I am challenged to think of better. I cannot. The service was friendly, prompt, and personalized. The food was flavorful, well executed, delicious, colorful, and prompted over eating in all of the best ways! Elements of the dishes challenge your notion of what Mexican food is and can be. And at the end of the day it is wonderful food, served with top notch eater experience in mind. I plan on returning soon!

The food was incredible, the wines were just perfect with the food, and the people who helped us were fun, informative, kind, and just awesome. Lovely outdoor space. We had scallop crudo, tuna aguachile, and steak asada, then tried the eggless custard for dessert – all were so flavorful, perfectly prepared, delightful for the tastebuds. Can’t wait to go back!!

Amazing restaurant. I’m Mexican, and this place just makes me feel at home. If you go to this restaurant expecting to see a menu in English and things like burritos and bean salad, don’t waste your time and go to Taco Bell or Chipotle. The tortillas are the real thing, the best I’ve had in the Portland area.

My sister and brother-in-law and I, always on the hunt for new Mexican places in Portland, tried Clandestino last night. We made reservations, arrived on time and were offered seats right away. The restaurant is very tiny with shared tables, which was a surprise, but OK. But when we asked to be seated at the other end of the same table, away from the door because it was cold outside, the staff could not figure out how to make that happen in their computer system, even when we explained that they could flop the plan. But no, that was somehow going to mess things up later on as other people arrived. Whatever.

Located in Lil Dame or the former Beast/Ripe Cooperative space, the interior is a few two or four tops but mostly communal tables – it’ll be more awesome once they can use the outdoor dining area, it’s pretty cozy in there now with boxes piled by the wall.
