Came here to OK Cafe 3 months ago it was great but as of week of 7/02/23 according to pic by another reviewer, the cafe is temporarily closed for renovations per notice on the door ( in Chinese via Google Translate). Today 7/17/23 Cafe is still temporarily closed for renovations per my pics as well.

It’s been a while since I have been to a good ole cafe in the MP / Alhambra area. I happened to be in the area and settled upon OK cafe. I remember going to OK cafe a while back, but it was at a different location. I’m not even sure if it is the same restaurant and owner or a different restaurant with the same name. It definitely has the HK vibe as all the music was either in mandarin or Cantonese. They had multiple TVs playing all Asian content and the menu was just like I had remembered it. What I was most impressed with was the price and quality. I got filet mignon with mushroom sauce for less than $15 and it was xlnt quality. It came with vegetables and your choice of rice or spaghetti and it was amazing. Ultimately, I highly recommend for the balance of price and quality. Restaurant was clean, the staff was nice. Parking can be a bit difficult but I recommend weekdays.

This restaurant offers typical Hong Kong style cafe options. Situated in the Atlantic Square, the restaurant shares parking with a number of other businesses and homes. On a Saturday night, tables were filled and service was fine, maybe a bit understaffed considering the large groups. Would come back. I think the portions and pricing is a good balance.

The waitress there with blonde hair and a unicorn tattoo on her arm circled the tip on my receipt I ignored it because tips aren’t mandatory. And when I was about to leave she asked if I was going to put the tip on the table. So I thought it was mandatory, and I asked a male waiter with black hair if it was and he replied with a yes. Then when I googled if mandatory tips were legal it said no. I am never going there again they basically committed a crime. I am a college student and I am saving up money for transport, food, and money. I took the bus to 24 hour fitness since it was already paid for the year and the school tap card makes the bus free. I can’t believe they took advantage of my naivete. If I could report it as a time I would. I came in around 7:00 p.m.

Back in Feb 2020 it was $11 alarming good bang for the buck–Filet mignon with black pepper sauce on hot plate. Now Aug 2022 it’s $15. Still not bad relative to everything else. It’s good quality meat. As to the glass of water, the glass didn’t look appealing at all. Although I avoid plastic straws whenever possible, I used one here. Service was good but it was past 9pm when I visited. The surrounding restaurants were mostly gone. Got Phoenix as the only competition at this hour.

Great Cantonese style food. Portions were excellent for the price you’re paying. You get a house soup and egg cakes too with your meal. Ordered the curry beef brisket rice and it was large enough for two or more people. Great date location, quiet.
