Anyone from this part of Maine well knows the many years of great food, fun and music at The Wharf, in Hallowell, Maine. Memories were made there. Unfortunately, a few years ago, I can’t recall why, they had to move from their historical location on the Kennebec River, to Water Street in Augusta, also on the river, however in a run down spot on Water Street. They did their best, I’m sure, but it just wasn’t the same. I hadn’t been there until last night. A somewhat older, less active crowd, and for a Saturday night, not at all busy. The Wharf was a hopping place, always busy on band nights, but it’s all changed. Its not the same, sadly. The service was way off. I also found that they will be closing their doors at the end of June. I will say goodbye to The wharf of good times gone by, and I’m very sorry the big move was the destruction of great establishment. Fare thee well, my friends.

Great spot, swing dancing on Wednesday nights followed by open mic. Great open dance hall that’s well decorated with license plates, staff are friendly and inviting drinks are very reasonably priced, this place is a hidden gem just off the main water st hustle bustle. A+

Not much for a bar scene in Augusta. So this is one of the few places to go. Staff was awesome. The crowd seemed to be older so fair warning. Hope this place does well. It is a good place to grab a drink.

Not a very friendly bar. We’ve been meaning to go here for a while now since they moved to Augusta. They didn’t seem very friendly to outsiders. Drinks were very expensive, and the band was not very good.

This place is beautifully placed in historic Hallowell Maine and is such a super fun placce to be on Friday and Saturday nights for the best local live music. The bartender is amazing and the drinks are reasonably priced. I love spending my weekend evenings at this place. And…..they support Local bands and such s an added bonus.

6/5 stars. Hands down, the best bar in town, possibly the state. Hallowell comes alive at the Hydeout. Phenominal atmosphere for all ages (21+), super accomodating service, they serve Miller Lite, and great live music. The bathrooms are well decorated and pretty clean compared to other divier bars. Comfy couches. Pool, fuseball, pinball, Jenga, the works!
