We ordered the chowder and clam cakes combo. Poor selection of beverages since the cooler was broken. Chowder was decent with a lot of small chopped clams. Cakes were a good size and batter was a little darker than I like. Out door seating across the street from the water. Overall pretty good for a quick light lunch.

Great location on the water with clean picnic tables under a tent. Clam strips were very good, fresh, hot and crisp. The creamy chowder was not very creamy and the world famous clamcakes were more like bread balls with a couple of pieces of clam.

The clam cakes and chowder has been delicious. They offer creamy, Rhode Island, and red. The cakes have been perfectly cooked with a good balance of clams. We’ve gotten many different types of food here over the years and it’s always been delicious.

This is my place to go for clam cakes…better than some other places. I won’t eat clam cakes anywhere else.

It’s a great little clam shack by the beach. It offers outdoor seating (some covered by a tent), parking both at the restaurant and close street parking. The food is mostly seafood, but does have non-seafood options if you have someone with you who isn’t into that. It’s a great place to sit and enjoy a relaxing, filling meal at a pretty affordable price. I always visit when I come to the area and would encourage others to do the same.

Hidden summer tradition. Stay away from the business of newport and come visit island park. Get some ice cream too! Beach is across the street.

Traditional Rhode Island beach front clam shack. Fried seafood here is second to none and a must try if not from the area is the clear clam chowder. This is basically clam chowder before they add the cream and thicken it.

So far I’ve tried the Fried Calamari plater, it came with French fries and coleslaw. Very delicious, nice light and airy. Can’t wait to try other dishes.

Well…things have been changing over the years. I am going to base this review completely on clam cakes and stuffed quahogs. All of the basics in each item have not changed in many years. Chourico, quahog, peppers, onions, etc…I think the hey day of both was in the 70s, especially at Mac’s Clam Shack out on the pier on Bowen’s wharf. On Aquidneck Island, Flo’s and Anthony’s Seafood are basically the current standard. Unfortunately, these days, you will only get a vague rememberance of what a clam cake or a stuffie used to be. Basically, the chourico is minimal and the quahogs are about non-existent. The breading in both is made better with lemon and malt vinegar. I hate to say it, but after 50+ years of enjoying stuffed quahogs and clam cakes, I am about done with the local options. Probably need to hop over the Sakonnet bridge and give Evelyn’s some service. I hate to write a bad review, but Flo’s and Anthony’s don’t really deliver anymore.

Been going for many decades! Best clamcakes anywhere! And you can order as few as one, but who can do that? They ALWAYS give an extra one too!! Highest recommendation!!
