You’re a yankee visiting the Deep South as a young man, and you try this odd-sounding dish called “gumbo”, and the spell is cast. You’ve never had something so smoky, silky, gorgeous. You Return to New Hampshire, and the “no more gumbo for you” curse bedevils you, following you wherever you go, laughing cruelly as you search the granite state for decades for another helping of that beautiful stew. It’s never on any restaurant menu, and if it is, it’s a sad joke being played upon you. Last night, Sol broke that spell, the gumbo was luxurious, deeply rich, Smokey, and beautiful. My wife got the shrimp and grits and it was far and away the best I’ve ever had. You gotta go there. Especially if you love southern food. Break that spell!

Great experience going here for dinner! The staff was super nice and the atmosphere was very warm. But most importantly the food was delicious. The shrimp and grits were fantastic but the gumbo was just above average.

Lovely lunch curbside on a beautiful day. Patio had some beautiful flowers which contribute to a good atmosphere! Although I had a simple cobb salad it was excellent.

We came for an event in their space. The buffet food was Cesar salad, biscuits and corn bread, pulled pork, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and collard greens. Everything was excellent. Service was great and my spicy margarita was really spicy. I would love to go back and try their regular menu.

It’s a new hot spot! My first visit was excellent!! As you enter, you begin to relax and feel the hospitality! The decor is modern classic with a cozy vibe. We sat at the marble topped bar and sampled house cocktails and grilled oysters! Wow! Our bar tender was really on his game, he made us feel like we were regulars right away, great guy with rich local knowledge, can’t wait to return.

Wanted to love it but just missed with the entrees. Drinks were spot on, and bread basket was honestly amazing. The biscuits were sooo flaky and the honey butter was delicious. Amazing job on the green tomatoes as well! Negative reviews about them have probably not had them before because they were excellent. The gumbo was a bit bland and so wasn’t the shrimp po boy. Was really hoping for a nice homemade roll or a little spin on the sandwich. We had live music which really added to dinner! Overall, would recommend for drinks and appetizers!

This week we decided to check out Sol in Portsmouth on a beautiful Sunday night. We were able to get a seat outside without a reservation and the hostess and wait staff couldn’t have been friendlier.

The frog legs were an amazing appetizer and the gumbo was incredible. The bread appetizer had a biscuit cornbread and hush puppies which all were a little dry but still pretty tasty. The service was great and the cocktails were really good. Definitely will be going back.

We enjoyed our dinner immensely! Everything was so delicious. We felt warmly welcomed and was visited by the manager a couple of times to check on us. Our server was excellent, too. We will definitely be back to try more of the wonderful offerings!
