I almost missed out on eating at Corey’s Chicken Shack this past weekend because I didn’t realize that they’ve moved to a new and nicer location. As always, the food was absolutely scrumptious! I ordered the fried catfish to eat there and ordered their famous fried chicken to go. Both my fish and chicken were cooked and seasoned to perfection. The biscuit as well was very light, fluffy, and delicious. I promised Corey that I would write a review the moment I returned to North Carolina so his loyal customers will know that he’s still in business.

I’ve been treated to Corey’s Chicken Shack at a few events over the last few months, so when I spied their storefront, and realized it was lunch time, I dropped right in.

Okay… Everybody reading the reviews are saying what’s all the hype about in these reviews. Well the real story is all the food is homemade and delicious!! Every customer that was sitting eating raved about their food. I had the pork chops dinner..two nice sized pork chops with sides of mashed potatoes and yams and they were fantastic!!

Corey’s Chicken Shack, thank you for your hospitality, service, & most of all the food was on point!!! To all my #motorcoachdrivers when in Richmond, Virginia stop by this restaurant & you can definitely park your coach bus in front of the hotel because the restaurant is adjacent to the hotel. I Definitely recommend this restaurant for some good ol’e southern cooking. I ordered PorkChop dinner with greens, candied yams with their specialty fried chicken (dark meat) with a slice of sweet potato pie, & grape Kool – Aid that’s right I said it Kool-aid that wasn’t too sweet!!! A big Thank You to the young lady who takes the orders, girl that biscuit was good as well as the gravy on the side next time I’m in Richmond I’m definitely coming back.

Lovely surprise on our last day in Williamsburg. The portions were large. My husband and I each ordered an entree platter, which came with 2 sides. We ordered different sides and shared so we could try more items. We ate our fill and had leftovers. The restaurant was clean, quiet, and the food service was quick. The gentleman and lady on-site were friendly and helpful. The fried chicken was lightly breaded, freshly fried, and flavor (not over salted). The collard greens were perfect, the Mac and cheese was a pleasant surprise…I’m always skeptical about Mac and cheese, but this wasn’t bad. The potato salad was just ok, and the yams were very sweet, but good. The sweet tea is freshly brewed, but I added water to mine as it was truly Southern SWEET Tea! Glad we caught this spot and will visit again.

If you’re looking for good soul food Corey’s is the spot. We got a family meal. The chicken was fried fresh, seasoned perfectly, and crispy. Each side was better than the next. We had mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, yams, potato salad, and my favorite the collard greens. And of course chocolate cake for dessert. Everything was a hit and Corey’s did not disappoint!!

Newly opened chicken place. The chicken was delicious my granddaughter had the cabbage she loved it along with her hamburger. I thought it was funny to see Kool-Aid on the menu really brought back happy memories for me. The place nice and spacious. I like restaurants that do not have customers sitting to close while eating. I love the pictures on the wall. I recommend more paintings.

We came down to this restaurant while we were on vacation. At first, i was a little nervous because the food was not for the public to see. I did ask someone if i could see what their macaroni and cheese looked like. The young man with dreads was super friendly and allowed me to look at it. Not only did he allow me to look at it, but he brought a fork for me to taste it. I was beyond impressed with his customer service skills! This was also one of the best soul food spots we’ve had. The chicken was seasoned just perfect, the macaroni and cheese was sooo cheesy, and the greens were also tasty. They were a little spicy, but i do know some people like it that way and i didn’t mind it. I will definitely be coming back again when I return to Williamsburg.

We tried them out based on the reviews. The food did not disappoint. The service was great. The place is very clean & the atmosphere is very nice. We asked a lot of questions about the menu & how the food is prepared before ordering. We had the fried chicken & the whiting. The food was amazing! We really enjoyed it. My six year old said “this chicken is good”, and she is a VERY picky eater. I would definitely recommend trying it.

My family and I were in town at one of the nearby resorts for vacation. Googled soul food restaurants in the area and found this gem. We called and placed a pickup order. The young lady was patient and helpful over the phone and in person. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the delicious aroma! Everything was delicious! We requested smothered chicken with part of the chicken order and was highly satisfied. Thankfully the greens and cabbage were seasoned with turkey and not pork (we don’t eat pork). Everything was nice and fresh. The biscuits were huge and the portions were filling.
