A friendly, fantastic BBQ. We stopped here on a road trip and basically got some of everything. AMAZING food! It’s a husband and wife team who are wonderful people and deserve your business. Order the ribs early, because they sell out fast! They are so good!! Don’t forget to get the burnt ends. Yum!

The best Barbecue I have tasted in East Texas. After moving here from the big city, I had the hardest time finding good barbecue.

Our community is blessed to have a few Texas BBQ heavyweights in our community, and Twisted Hickory is one of them. The ribs are the shining star but the brisket is special, too. The food has a clean and rich depth of smoke with great penetration, the perfect amount of salt and pepper, and an elite level of attention to detail. The sides are great, the staff is friendly, and there’s not much else to want other than a nap afterwards.

Stopped by this place today. Employees were very friendly. Ordered a two meat plate. I got sliced brisket and sausage, with mashed potatoes and corn on the side. It also came with a piece of toast.

If you are close, make sure you get some BBQ at this place!! Tender ribs, chicken, & brisket. My friend wouldn’t share her burnt ends, so they must have been amazing. Brisket stuffed potato was so filled with meat, there was plenty for every bite. Careful of those meat sweats!! The owner/put master brought each of us a twisted tornado (brisket stuffed jalapeño). Every bite was delicious. We found out that Jesus adds secret ingredients at this local BBQ gem!

I was driving back to Illinois from Houston when I experienced Twisted Hickory. Earlier that same day I was complaining about how I didn’t get any good BBQ in Houston. Our tire blew out about 20 miles away from Carthage and we needed to get a new one put on. It was going to be a few hours but that was okay with me once I saw TH right across from the tire place. This was the best BBQ i’ve ever had. The brisket was so moist (you must get it with the fat on), the sausage was amazing, as was the pulled pork, mac n cheese, and potato salad. Very charming place that seemed to be as about authentic as it comes. The family who ran it were super nice and friendly. Overall an amazing experience and was the silver lining to getting a flat tire. Next time I drive to/from Houston I will absolutely be stopping again at TH.

Best brisket I’ve had in a long time! I was passing through going to Mississippi when I spotted this BBQ sign. I had not eaten all day and been on the road for about 4 hours. They were out of ribs at the time and I thought to myself either they are really good or they didn’t cook enough. Decided to try the brisket. Brisket is a tough one if you don’t know what you’re doing. One of the guys brought me a little sample of burnt ends while I waited (super sweet of him) for me to taste. I was skeptical because I’m super critical of my BBQ. I drove off and got almost to the stop sign when I took a bite. I’ll say this I’M STILL KICKING MYSELF BECAUSE I DIDN’T GO BACK FOR MORE! I don’t know who asked Jesus to come down and sprinkle a little Heaven on this Brisket but thank you so much for making my trip home something to remember. This route is the long way home for me, but I’ll happily take it next time because the food is worth it.

I was driving to Louisiana from houston for work and just happened upon this place. I turned up way too early (8am). The guy was just setting up. He was a great guy, we had a nice chat. He showed me around and what he was cooking, and everything smelled and looked amazing! On my way back, I made sure to visit and grabbed 2lb of pork belly and brisket, plus a kickin’ chicken sandwich. Best bbq I’ve had since I moved to Texas. I ate way too much! Is it possible to die from eating too much? Anyway, no regrets! Leave a brisket at my grave in my honor
